With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Sheila Marie Ragar, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, who departed this life on June 12, 2026, at the age of 62. Born on August 25, 1963, in Rockford, Illinois, Sheila was a beacon of warmth and love, offering her heart generously to those around her.
Sheila was the cherished daughter of John and Pamela Thomas. She was predeceased by her devoted husband, Gary Ragar, affectionately known as "Mudd"; her father, John; her brothers, Clarance and Johnny; and her grandsons, Devon and Elijah. Her legacy of love and compassion lives on through her surviving family: her daughters, Danielle Winterland, Toni Smith, and Nova Williams; her son, Jace Williams; her grandchildren, Dominique Hood and spouse Gary Taber, Deserea and Stoney Stark, Lester Hood, Levi Hood, Isaac Winterland, and Cherish Anderson; and nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Sheila's heart was as expansive as her family, always open to new experiences and adventures. Her enthusiasm for life was reflected in her love for camping and canoeing, exploring the open roads on family road trips, and creating cherished memories during family gatherings and vacations. Wherever Sheila went, laughter and joy followed.
For over 40 years, Sheila was an active and devoted member of her Christian Church community. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she dedicated herself to serving others with kindness and humility. Her gift for making everyone feel welcomed and loved was a testament to her generous spirit, and her adventurous nature was always full of delightful surprises.
A celebration of Sheila's remarkable life will be held on June 16, 2026, at 1:00 PM at the Lamar Christian Church, located at 1208 Walnut Street, Lamar, MO 64759. Friends and family are invited to gather to honor Sheila's memory, sharing stories and remembrances of a life beautifully lived.
In this time of mourning, we find solace in the legacy Sheila leaves behind—a legacy filled with love, adventure, and an enduring sense of home. Her spirit will continue to guide and inspire us, reminding us of the importance of love, family, and faith. Sheila will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
