Sheila Gail Sanders

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sheila Gail Sanders, a remarkable woman whose life was a testament to fearlessness, kindness, faith and unwavering spirit. Sheila was born on August 25, 1959, in Marietta, Georgia, to her loving parents, Rebecca Ann Quigley and Charles Edward Sanders. She peacefully left this world on March 19, 2026, leaving behind a legacy cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her. Sheila was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Rebecca and Charles, as well as her dear siblings Ralph and Sherry. She is survived by her brothers, Paul Bryant and Grant Sanders, her devoted children, Bobby, Charles, and Guy Goodwin and her 4 treasured grandchildren, who brought immeasurable joy and love into her life. Throughout her journey, Sheila demonstrated a remarkable ability to adapt, persevere and excel in whatever life placed before her. Her strong work ethic, combined with her courageous nature and determination left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to cross her path. Sheila was baptized at Verdon Chapel Baptist Church in Heflin, AL, and carried her faith with her as a beloved heir to the Kingdom of God. A woman of many passions, Sheila cherished her sons, nieces, and grandchildren above all else. She possessed a generous heart and was always willing to help someone in need, whether they were a lifelong friend or a complete stranger. She loved fiercely, and never hesitated to stand up for the people she cared about. A woman who could never be mistaken for anyone else, Sheila was a God-fearing, dog-loving, pistol-packing, Bible-toting, Harley Davidson-riding Woman of the South. She was funny, independent, fiercely loyal, unapologetically herself. She lived life on her own terms and left an impression wherever she went. Some of the her motto's were almost as unforgettable as she was: "Loud pipes save lives. Jesus saves souls," "I'm no one's baby," and "Riding with GOD." These expressions reflect the essence of a woman who lived life on her own terms, with a strong sense of humor and an unyielding spirit. She did not simply pass through this life--- she rode through it with the throttle wide open. She leaves behind, a space that cannot be filled. Memories of her laughter, stories, strong opinions, colorful personality, and unmistakable presence will be deeply missed. We now carry her memory forward- in the stories we tell, the lessons she taught us, the people she helped, and every loud Harley that reminds us of her. A private funeral service will be held in her honor, with a Celebration of Life to be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests making a donation to a charity of your choice in Sheila's memory. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all who stood beside, cared for, supported and loved Sheila, and in true Sheila fashion, the family offers a cheeky gesture to those who did not— just to make her smile in Heaven. Sheila’s unforgettable presence and love will forever be etched in the hearts of her family and friends. One of a kind. Deeply loved. Never forgotten. Until we meet again... Ride with God.
