Sheila Eileen Asselin

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sheila Eileen Asselin, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, on August 19, 2026. Sheila was born on September 21, 1937, in Asheville, North Carolina, to Melvin Creston Moore and Evelyn Moore (Alexander). She left this world peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love and warmth that will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Sheila shared a remarkable love story with her husband, Henry “Ted” Asselin, whom she married in Augusta, Georgia. Together, they built a family rooted in love and resilience. Although Ted and their son Michael Asselin predeceased her, Sheila's spirit and strength were carried forward by her surviving children: daughter Sharon DiFranza and her husband Joseph DiFranza, daughter Loretta Asselin Zahn and her husband Robert Zahn, son David Asselin, son Daniel Asselin, son Christopher Asselin and his wife Sheila Asselin, and son Patrick Asselin and his wife Ashley Asselin. Sheila's life was blessed with the joy of 18 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren, each of whom she adored deeply. Her family was her pride and joy, and her legacy lives on in the hearts of her descendants. Sheila's life was a testament to the power of kindness and the beauty of a generous spirit. She had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel welcome and loved, and her home was always a gathering place filled with laughter, warmth, and delicious Southern cooking. Her empathy and compassion touched many lives, and she was a friend and confidante to many, offering wisdom and solace with grace and understanding. In remembrance of Sheila Eileen Asselin, the family kindly suggests that donations be made to a charity of your choice. This gesture would honor her life by continuing the cycle of giving and compassion that defined her. Sheila’s bright smile and loving heart will live on in the memories of all who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be deeply missed but forever celebrated by her family and friends. May she rest in peace, reunited with Ted and Michael, and may her spirit continue to inspire those she leaves behind.
