In loving memory of Sheena Day, who passed away peacefully on May 31, 2026, at the age of 62. Born on April 22, 1964, in the vibrant city of New Orleans, Louisiana, Sheena was the cherished daughter of Lloyd and Marynell Louis. Her life was a testament to resilience, love, and unwavering faith.
Sheena's journey began at John Ehret High School, where she graduated in 1981. Her education laid the foundation for a life of dedication and service to her family and community. With a heart full of compassion, Sheena devoted herself to creating a nurturing home filled with warmth and love. She was known for her incredible culinary skills, with her stuffed peppers being a favorite among family and friends.
On July 9, 1987, Sheena entered into holy matrimony with the late Tyrone Smith. From this union, they welcomed their beloved daughter, Elvira Lewis, into the world. In 2019, Sheena found love once more and married Lonnie Day, a partnership rooted in mutual faith and enduring love until his passing in 2022.
Sheena's life was enriched by her love of fishing and playing bingo, activities that brought her joy and tranquility. Her vibrant spirit and infectious laughter could light up any room, and her kindness and generosity touched everyone she met.
She was predeceased by her loving parents, Lloyd and Marynell Louis, her devoted husbands Tyrone Smith and Lonnie Day, stepdaughter Shamanika Scales, and her cherished grandparents, Henry and Augusta Ware, and Leopoldo Louis and Beulah Butler.
She leaves behind her beloved daughter Elvira Lewis, who was her pride and joy, as well as her four treasured grandchildren—two grandsons and two granddaughters—who brought her immense happiness. Her loving memory will also be carried on by her stepchildren, Latrice, Bryson, and Clarence Smith, Lonnie and Joshua Day. She is survived by her stepmother, Revonne Louis; her three sisters, Carolyn (Johnell) Williams, Ida (Thomas) Caston, and Marion Louis; her two brothers, Lloyd Peter Louis and Antonio Louis; and her stepsister, Joyce Hughes. Sheena was also a beloved sister-in-law to Joyce and Ivory Lee, and a cherished aunt to a host of nieces and nephews. Her aunts Louvenia Ross, Dolores Smith, Rosetta Lewis, and uncles Wilson (Geraldine), Solomon, Gus, and Joseph (Francis) Lewis, along with numerous cousins and friends, will forever hold her in their hearts.
A service celebrating Sheena's life will be held on June 20, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at People Funeral, located at 607 Elmwood St, McComb, MS 39648. The family extends their deepest gratitude to the staff of the Mississippi Cancer Institution, whose doctors and nurses provided exceptional care and compassion to Sheena.
As we bid farewell to Sheena, we honor a life filled with love, laughter, and faith. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew her, and her spirit will continue to guide and inspire us. May she rest in eternal peace, reunited with those who have gone before her, and may her memory be a blessing to all who loved her.
