September 4, 1977 — September 6, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Sheanika Tyeisha Myers, who left us on September 6, 2026, at the age of 49. Born on September 4, 1977, in Elizabeth, New Jersey, Sheanika was a beacon of love and resilience, whose life was a testament to the power of family, faith, and the enduring human spirit.
Sheanika was the cherished daughter of Jessie Mae Myers and Ricky James Roach, both of whom predeceased her and are now reunited with her in eternal rest. Her life was a vibrant tapestry woven with the love of her surviving family members, including her devoted spouse, Sidney Jackson, who was her partner in all things, and her beloved children, especially Emily Lashay Myers, who carries on her legacy of strength and compassion.
A doting grandmother, Sheanika adored her grandchildren—Martisque Shelton, Emmarrjay Shelton, Emonee Myers, and Khloe Rascoe—who brought immense joy and laughter into her life. She was the heart of her family, always present at every birthday and family gathering, ensuring that each moment was filled with warmth and cherished memories.
Sheanika is also survived by her loving siblings, Reshell Myers, Olivia Myers, Taisia (Bobbie) Baskin, and Silideame Myers, who will forever remember her as their guiding light and steadfast supporter.
Her days were filled with simple pleasures that brought her joy and fulfillment. She cherished time spent with her grandkids and celebrated life's many blessings with an infectious enthusiasm. An avid bingo player and a devoted fan of Keith Sweat, she found happiness in both the company of loved ones and the melodies that soothed her soul.
Sheanika fought valiantly against lung cancer, a battle marked by her unwavering courage and the love of those around her. Her strength and grace were a beacon of hope and inspiration to all who knew her.
A celebration of Sheanika's life will be held on September 19, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Millers Funeral Home in Selma, Alabama. Family and friends are invited to gather to honor and remember a life well-lived, to share stories, and to find solace in the community she so deeply valued.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites those who wish to honor Sheanika's memory to consider making a donation to a charity of their choice, reflecting her generous spirit and commitment to helping others.
Though she has left this earthly realm, Sheanika's spirit will forever dwell in the hearts of those she touched. Her legacy of love and togetherness will continue to inspire and guide her family for generations to come.
