Shayla G. Johnson

June 5, 1998 — June 2, 2026

In Loving Memory of Shayla G. Johnson It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Shayla G. Johnson, affectionately known as "Bugg" or "Bugg Jooze," who left this world on June 2, 2026, just shy of her 28th birthday. Born on June 5, 1998, in the serene town of Pocatello, ID, Shayla's life was a tapestry of love, laughter, and indomitable spirit that enriched all who knew her. Shayla was the cherished daughter of Laurie Kniffin and Kelly Johnson, who, along with her beloved son Mr. Chico Kruz Teton, survive her. Chico was the light of Shayla’s life, and she was a devoted mother who eagerly supported and coached him in his budding sports endeavors. Her passion for sports was a testament to her vibrant personality, as she herself held the record for the highest single-season scoring average in Idaho during her time at Shoshone-Bannock Jr/Sr High School in Fort Hall. Shayla was not only a star athlete but also one of the most spirited cheerleaders, whose enthusiasm and energy were infectious. Her family was Shayla's world, and she leaves behind her parents; her brothers Dulton Johnson Sr. and Julian Kniffin; her sisters Shayann Johnson and K'Chele Johnson; her Grandmother Tina Kniffin and Grandpa Teal Earl Johnson, and a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunties, and uncles who will carry her memory forward. Though preceded in death by her brother Trevor "Beans," sister Chelsea "Bootz," her Grandpa Jerry Kniffin "JK," Grandmother Izella Jim, Auntie Audra Goodrider, and great-grandparents Julian & Annie Kniffin, Willie & Jesse Teton-Jim, Shayla’s legacy of love and laughter lives on in those she leaves behind. A creative soul, Shayla enjoyed drawing, collecting rocks, and basking in the great outdoors. Her love for music was as varied as her interests, and she often found solace in the melodies that filled her world. Shayla was known for her candid nature and infectious laughter—a vivacious presence in any room. Her love for life was evident in her dedication to helping on the ranch, riding horses, and participating in hay bailing, all while being the biggest cheerleader for her nieces and nephews. Shayla’s tenacity and zest for life will be cherished and remembered by all who knew her. Her boisterous laughter and open-hearted honesty were her trademarks, and she made it a point to make everyone around her smile. She was a beacon of support to her family and friends, always ready with a word of encouragement or a listening ear. A service to celebrate Shayla’s extraordinary life will be held on June 5, 2026, at 2:00 PM at the Hawker Funeral Home. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of Shayla's joyful spirit and to honor the impact she had on our lives. As we say goodbye to our dear Shayla, we hold on to our memories and the love she shared so freely. Rest in peace, our beloved "Bugg Jooze." You will be greatly missed but never forgotten. "Rest in peace my girl 'Bugg Jooze.'"
