Shawn T. Stewart Sr.

In loving memory of Shawn T. Stewart Sr., who passed away on September 19, 2026, at the age of 67. Shawn was born on July 23, 1959, in Oakland Kaiser, California, to Lois and Vernon Stewart. His journey on earth was marked by love, laughter, and an unwavering dedication to family and community. Shawn was a graduate of Berkeley High School, class of 1977. With dreams of becoming a sports news broadcaster, he carried his passion for sports into every aspect of his life. Though his career path led him to work as a warehouse associate, his love for sports, along with music, comedy, and fashion, remained a constant source of joy and inspiration. A devoted member of the Albany Church of Christ, Shawn's faith was a cornerstone of his life. His open heart and personable nature endeared him to everyone he met, and his warmth and kindness left a lasting impression on all who knew him. Shawn married his childhood friend and beloved wife, Cheryl J. Brown, with whom he shared an extraordinary life filled with love and companionship. Their bond was a testament to enduring love, and they supported each other through life's ups and downs. Shawn was heartbroken when Cheryl passed away last October, just shy of their 40th wedding anniversary. He is predeceased by his parents, Lois and Vernon Stewart, his sister Mary V. Moore, his youngest son Andre Ramon Stewart, and his cherished wife Cheryl. Shawn is survived by his children, Shawn T. Stewart Jr. and Brittany Stewart, and his four grandchildren, Emesah, Niko, King, and Prince, who brought immense joy to his life. His siblings, Vernon Stewart and wife Anna, Sheila Tolbert and husband Frank Tolbert, and Gregory P. Stewart Sr. and wife Rhani Monique Stewart, together with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends, mourn his passing but celebrate the rich legacy he leaves behind. Shawn had a remarkable talent for cooking and often brought people together with his culinary delights. His love and care for his family, especially his wife Cheryl, were profound and unwavering. He will be remembered for his big heart, infectious smile, and the way he made everyone feel special and loved. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Shawn's memory, honoring the generous spirit that defined his life. Shawn T. Stewart Sr. will be dearly missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of those he touched. May he rest in eternal peace, reunited with his loved ones in the arms of God.
