It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Dr. Shawn Hensen, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, who peacefully left this world on January 26, 2026, at the age of 52. Born on February 13, 1973, in Louisville, Kentucky, Shawn's life was a testament to compassion, strength, and unwavering love. Daughter of Cheryl Darlene Spurling and Kenneth Raymond McMillin, Shawn's journey was marked by a relentless pursuit of knowledge and a deep commitment to helping others. Graduating with a master's degree in psychology from the University of Southern California in 2013, she dedicated her career to the mental health field, where her empathy and understanding transformed countless lives. Her work was not merely a profession; it was a calling that she fulfilled with grace and dedication. In 2000, Shawn found her life's partner in Domingo Hensen, with whom she shared 25 wonderful years of marriage. Their love story began in Hampton, Virginia, on March 9 of that year, and together they built a life filled with joy, adventure, and mutual respect. Shawn was a loving and devoted mother to her cherished daughter, Jessica McMillin, and stepmother to Domingo Hensen Jr., Jynna McMillin, Jonathan McMillin, Mirakle Hensen, and Misstery Hensen. Her nurturing spirit extended further to her beloved grandchildren, whom she adored deeply. Shawn was a woman of quiet strength, who spoke with conviction on matters close to her heart. She was an avid reader and a lifelong learner, always eager to share her insights and engage in thoughtful conversations. Her playful spirit and zest for life were evident in her love for travel, particularly cruising to new destinations, trying diverse cuisines, and enjoying the tranquility of the beach. In her personal life, Shawn found joy in the simple pleasures: listening to classic rock, indulging in her favorite desserts, and relishing a good back rub. She was an extraordinary cook, and her meals, crafted with love, were a testament to her generous heart. Above all, Shawn lived a life of love. Her devotion to her family, particularly her unwavering support for her daughter Jessica, was unparalleled. Her warmth, intelligence, and humor touched everyone fortunate enough to know her, leaving a legacy that will endure in the hearts of her family and friends. Dr. Shawn Hensen's life will be celebrated on February 26, 2026, at 3:15 PM at the Legacy Funeral Home, located at 12600 Trade Center Drive, Bonita Springs, FL 34135. Family and friends are invited to join us in honoring a remarkable woman whose spirit will continue to inspire and guide us. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Shawn's name to a mental health charity of your choice, ensuring that her legacy of compassion and care continues to touch lives. May her soul find eternal peace, and her memory be a blessing to all who knew her.
