She was surrounded by love and family at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, as she peacefully bid farewell to this earthly realm. Born on April 9, 1970, in Baltimore, Maryland, Shawn was the cherished daughter of Sheila and Elroy Dorsey. From an early age, she embodied the vibrant spirit of her hometown, radiating warmth and kindness that drew people to her effortlessly. Tragically, her mother Sheila predeceased her in 1983, but Shawn carried her mother’s legacy of love and resilience throughout her life. Shawn's life was a testament to hard work and dedication. She spent her career as a devoted housekeeper, first at the esteemed Johns Hopkins Hospital and later at The League for People with Disabilities. In these roles, Shawn not only contributed her skills but also her heart, touching the lives of many with her cheerful demeanor and unwavering support. A lover of life and people, Shawn was known for her outgoing and social nature. Her ability to form friendships with just a simple "hello" was remarkable. Whether she was sitting outside, savoring the fresh air, or lending a helping hand to those in need, Shawn's presence was a source of comfort and inspiration to all who knew her. Her infectious laugh and contagious love for life left an indelible mark on the hearts of her friends and family. Shawn leaves behind a legacy of love through her surviving family members: her beloved children, Treneka, Shinese, Stephan, and Deontay, and her nine treasured grandchildren, who were the light of her life. She is also survived by her dear brother Michael, her loving sister Annette, and a vast extended family of countless cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles who will forever cherish her memory. The family will hold a private funeral ceremony to honor Shawn's beautiful life and the profound impact she had on those she loved. In this time of sorrow, they find solace in the countless memories and the enduring legacy she leaves behind. To Shawn, from all her friends and family: "We love and miss you deeply. We know you’ll be looking down on us, guiding us with your gentle spirit. Thank you for showing us what it means to be a good person.
