Shawn Brown

October 12, 1975 — September 2, 2026

In loving memory of Shawn Brown, who was born on October 12, 1975, in the warm and vibrant town of Springfield, St. Thomas, Jamaica. Shawn left us all too soon on September 2, 2026, leaving behind a legacy that will forever be etched in our hearts. Shawn was the beloved son of the late Claudette DaCosta and Newton Brown, and the cherished grandson of Merdina Blackwood, all of whom predeceased him. He is survived by his adored children: sons Roshawn, Naquain, Shawn Jr., and Deshawn; daughters Shaundre, Shawn-Tay, Shinayna, and Shaniqua. His legacy continues through his four precious grandchildren, who brought him immense joy. Shawn is also survived by his loving sister Veronica and brothers Peter Brown and another brother affectionately known as Brother Brown. Numerous nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends also mourn his passing, each having been touched by his warmth and humor. Shawn's educational journey began at Almira Basic School and continued through St. James Tower Hill All Age School, Morant Bay All Age School, and Morant Bay High School. His career was diverse and fulfilling, with roles at Guantanimo Bay, Dacosta and Son, the airport, and in trucking. He was a man of faith, baptized at the Morant Bay 7th Day Adventist Church, where he found spiritual guidance and community. Shawn's love for life was evident in his passions. An avid fisherman, he found peace and joy by the waterside. His love for football was well known, often seen playing next to the Springfield football field. He also took pride in maintaining his fitness and enjoyed working out. Shawn's quick wit and jovial personality were his hallmark traits. His Facebook posts, especially the beloved Friday tradition of "another Friday without pay," never failed to spark conversations and bring laughter to friends and family. His humor was a gift that brought people together, and his presence was a beacon of joy. A service to honor Shawn’s life will be held on November 22, 2026, at 13:00 at the Morant Bay 7th Day Adventist Church. The family kindly suggests that those wishing to honor Shawn’s memory consider making a donation to a charity of their choice. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to everyone who has supported them during this difficult time. Shawn’s memory will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

In lieu of flowers, the family of Shawn Brown welcomes donations to a charity, nonprofit, church, or organization of your choosing.
