It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Shawn Allen Hatch, a beloved father, son, brother, grandfather, and friend. Shawn passed away peacefully at Bellevue Medical Center in Bellevue, Nebraska, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories. Born on November 3, 1968, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Grand Island, NE, Shawn was the cherished son of Linda M. Hatch and Ronald L. Hatch. He was raised in a family that valued love, laughter, and hard work. Shawn's grandparents preceded him in death, but their influence remained a guiding force throughout his life. Shawn's vibrant spirit and spunky personality were evident from a young age. He graduated from Hastings High School in 1987, where he cultivated a love for learning and formed friendships that lasted a lifetime. Growing up, he attended Catholic school and embraced his faith, which continued to be a source of strength for him. A master in the kitchen, Shawn pursued a career that allowed him to share his passion for cooking with others. As a chef, he delighted in bringing people together over delicious meals, creating not just food, but experiences that his friends and family cherished. His culinary skills were only rivaled by his love for the great outdoors. Whether fishing, camping, or cheering on his beloved Raiders, Shawn found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Family was at the heart of everything Shawn did. He is survived by his devoted children, Michael (Tori), Brittany (Christopher), Thayne (Kate) Smith, and Derek Smith, who will forever hold his memory close. Shawn was a proud grandfather to Brynleigh Hatch, Caaliya Mitchell, and Sal Morrison-Smith, each of whom brought immense joy to his life. His siblings, Shane, Christopher (Sara), and Chad (Karie), shared countless adventures and laughter with Shawn, and his parents, Linda and Ron, were his lifelong inspirations and confidants. Shawn's laughter could light up a room, and his jokes were legendary among friends and family. He was known for his hard work and dedication, rarely complaining, and always going above and beyond for those he loved. His deep affection for animals was evident in the way he cared for them, treating each one as a member of the family. As we bid farewell to this remarkable man, we celebrate the indelible mark he left on our hearts. His memory will continue to inspire us to live life with joy, humor, and an unwavering love for family. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Shawn's memory to a charity of your choice. May his soul rest in peace, surrounded by love and light, as we carry forward his legacy of laughter and love.
