Sharyn Anne Riley

July 29, 1962 — May 11, 2026

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Sharyn Anne Riley, a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, who left this world on May 11, 2026, at the age of 63. Sharyn passed away peacefully in the presence of her cherished loved ones, after a brief illness, in Chicopee, Massachusetts. Born on July 29, 1962, in Springfield, MA, Sharyn was the treasured daughter of Francis and Rosemary Riley. She was predeceased by her beloved mother, Rosemary, whose nurturing spirit Sharyn embodied throughout her life. A dedicated and respected professional, Sharyn devoted over 40 years to serving as the City Auditor for Chicopee. Her meticulous nature and commitment to her work earned her the admiration and respect of her colleagues and community alike. Sharyn’s career was more than a job to her; it was a calling to serve and uplift her community, and she did so with unwavering dedication and integrity. Family was at the heart of Sharyn’s life. She leaves behind her father, Francis, and her loving siblings: brother Michael and his wife Tina, brother Timothy and his wife Lisa, and sister Mary Ellen and her husband Ralph, all residing in Chicopee. Sharyn shared a particularly close bond with her sister, Mary Ellen, who provided unwavering support and companionship, especially in Sharyn’s final days. Her nieces and nephews were a source of immense joy to her. She was especially grateful to her niece Emma, who provided tender care during the last months of her life, and nephew Anthony Demaio and his partner James of Holyoke, whose visits brought laughter and warmth. Sharyn’s love extended to her niece Kelly, her husband Toby, and her great nephews, Jack and Will of Londonderry, NH, who were the light of her life. In addition to her immediate family, Sharyn is survived by her best friend of more than 50 years, Nancy Keyes. Nancy’s steadfast friendship and unyielding kindness were a testament to the deep and lasting bonds Sharyn formed throughout her life. Sharyn was known for her generous spirit and selfless nature. She possessed an innate ability to care for those around her, always putting others before herself. Her heart was as expansive as her love for her three bulldog “children” – Winston, Ruby, and Otis – who were her constant companions and brought her endless joy. Beyond her professional and familial commitments, Sharyn had a profound love for dogs, a passion that was evident in her devotion to her bulldogs. Her home was filled with love and laughter, thanks to her furry friends, who were cherished members of her family. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, an organization close to Sharyn’s heart. Sharyn Anne Riley’s legacy is one of love, generosity, and unwavering dedication. Her absence will be deeply felt by all who were fortunate enough to know her, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of those she touched. She leaves behind a world made brighter by her presence and a family forever grateful for the love and light she bestowed upon them.
