With heavy hearts and profound respect, we honor the life of Sharon Willis, who passed peacefully on July 26, 2026, at the age of 70. Born on May 10, 1956, in Kansas City, Missouri, Sharon was a beacon of love and strength to all who knew her. She was the cherished daughter of Albert and Charlene Turner, who preceded her in death.
Sharon shared a deep and unwavering bond with her husband, Jimmy Willis, who also preceded her in passing. Their love story was one for the ages, characterized by mutual respect and shared dreams. Together, they raised a family rooted in love, resilience, and the joy of simple moments.
Sharon was a devoted mother to her beloved daughter, Monique Finley. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her own children, as she played a guiding role in the lives of her grandchildren, Miyata, Jamon, and Jamal Finley, and her four great-grandchildren, who brought her boundless joy and laughter.
Her siblings remember Sharon as a loving sister and confidante. She is survived by her sister, Charmaine Turner, and her brothers, Rickey Turner, Archie Turner, and Louis Gamble. Sharon was predeceased by her twin sister, Shelia Turner, her brother, Wendell Turner, and her sister-in-law, Latanya Turner. The memory of her beloved son, James Finley, and her great-granddaughter, Jai'Oni Love Harris, also remain deeply etched in the hearts of those who survive her.
Educated at East High School in Kansas City, Sharon carried with her a lifelong love of learning and an unyielding curiosity about the world. Her intelligence and wit were evident in every conversation, and she had an extraordinary ability to make everyone feel seen and heard.
Sharon was known for her kindness, her radiant smile, and her unwavering faith. She found peace in her garden, joy in the pages of a good book, and fulfillment in the company of her family and friends. Her legacy is one of compassion, generosity, and a life well-lived.
A celebration of Sharon's life will be held on August 8, 2026, at 4:00 PM at the R&R Creations Event Space, located at 9604 E. US HWY 40, Independence, Missouri. Family, friends, and all whose lives Sharon touched are invited to join in remembering and honoring her remarkable journey.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Sharon's memory to a charity of your choice, continuing her legacy of giving and care for others.
Sharon Willis will be dearly missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. Her spirit will continue to guide and inspire us, reminding us of the beauty in every moment and the importance of love and connection.
