It is with profound sadness and deep love that we announce the peaceful passing of Sharon Lee Chang, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, on March 24, 2026, at the age of 87. Sharon left this world enveloped in the love of her family at her home in Belmont, California, a place that had been the center of her vibrant life.
Sharon was born in San Mateo, California, on March 22, 1939, to her devoted parents, William and Lily Lee, who preceded her in death. She was a spirited and joyous individual whose warmth and kindness touched the lives of everyone she met. Her siblings, Laurel Lee and Clayton Lee, will forever cherish the bond they shared with their beloved sister.
A proud graduate of San Mateo High School, Sharon pursued higher education at the University of California and completed her studies at San Francisco State University. Her passion for knowledge and nurturing spirit led her to a fulfilling career as a teacher, where she inspired and guided countless young minds over more than a decade.
In 1962, Sharon married the love of her life, Robert Chang. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and adventure, raising their three children, Scott (Saba), Robert (Jackie), and Julie (Dan), in Belmont. Their union was a testament to enduring love and partnership, and their 64 years together were marked by unwavering support and shared joy.
Sharon's devotion extended beyond her immediate family to her six grandchildren, Ashley (Abram), Shannon, Brooke, Ryan, Sarah, and Kelly, as well as her step-grandchild, Saif. In 2025, she welcomed her first great-grandchild into the world, a blessing that brought immense joy to her heart.
An avid San Francisco 49ers fan, Sharon was known for her infectious enthusiasm and love for the game. Her passion for shopping, particularly her collection of purses, was a reflection of her fun-loving and friendly nature. Sharon's laughter and joyous spirit will forever echo in the hearts of all who knew her.
A service to celebrate Sharon's remarkable life will be held on April 2, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Cypress Lawn, 977 S. El Camino Real, San Mateo, CA 94402. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Sharon's memory to the Peninsula Human Society, an organization dear to her heart, at https://phs-spca.org/?form=donateonline.
As we bid farewell to our beloved Sharon, we find comfort in the words of A.A. Milne, a sentiment that Sharon herself cherished: "The most important thing is, even when we're apart, I'll always be with you."
Her light will continue to shine in our hearts, and the legacy of her love will live on through the lives she touched. Rest in peace, dear Sharon, knowing you are cherished and remembered with love.
