Sharon La'Rue Johnson-Hall

July 27, 1959 — August 6, 2026

Sharon La'Rue Johnson-Hall, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2026, at Hillcrest S&W Hospital in Waco, Texas. Born on July 27, 1959, in Hubbard, Texas, Sharon was the eldest of six children born to Ernest Charles Johnson and Mattie Dean Thompson-Johnson. Sharon's life was a testament to dedication, love, and service. She pursued her education at Hubbard ISD, Hill Junior College, and Navarro Junior College, where she obtained certifications as a Nursing Aide and Medication Aide. Her passion for caregiving was evident throughout her career, as she worked diligently at various nursing facilities, Mexia State School, and the UT Medical Branch. Her compassion and dedication left a lasting impact on those she cared for and worked alongside. In high school, Sharon broke barriers as one of the first African-Americans selected for the Jaguarette Drill Team. Her vibrant spirit and love for adventure led her to become an active member of the original riding club, the "Waco Knight Riders," where she enjoyed countless weekends of trail rides and contributed to charitable causes with her fellow riders. A woman of deep faith, Sharon accepted Christ at an early age. Her spiritual journey began at Masadonia Baptist Church in Hubbard, Texas, and at the age of 12 or 13 she served as a youth minister at Brown Hill Church under the guidance of Minister Sarah Davis. In her later years, she recommitted her life to God and became a devoted member of Lovely Hope Baptist Church. Sharon's legacy is cherished by her surviving family: her sister, Leatrice (Billy Ray) Johnson; two brothers, Donam Johnson Sr. and Ronald (Joyce) Johnson; her children, Ronsha (William) Johnson, Shanna Johnson, Sheeka (William) McClendon, and Jerry Wayne (Tammy) Johnson Sr.; thirteen grandchildren, Brianna Johnson, James "Bam" (Briana) Johnson, Kimberly Johnson, Tre' (Demi) Knight Sr, Aliayha Johnson, Darion (Julyssa) McClendon, Jerry Johnson Jr., LaKavia Collins, Kyra Jones, Kevin Johnson, Kentazia McClendon, Blayne Willford, Kiron Johnson and thirteen great-grandchildren, Devonta Johnson, Kailea Knight, Tre' Knight Jr., Jamie Johnson, Stella Knight, Zaryah Johnson, Kaiden McClendon, Aiylana Ezell, Zaarah McClendon, Cyann Washington, Kyrie McClendon, Tracer Knight, Khylin McClendon. She also leaves behind a special sister/cousin, Kimberly Jefferson, and a special sister/aunt, Caroline Thompson, along with numerous nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, and cousins. Preceding her in death were her parents, Ernest C. Johnson and Mattie D. Sellers, her sisters, Vertice Burns and Charlene Johnson, and her grandparents, Eunice Johnson, Anetta Cooper-Littlejohn, S.D. Thompson, and Donam C. Johnson. "If You Get There Before I Do, don't give up on me. I'll meet you when my chores are through. I don't know how long I'll be, but I'm not gonna let you down. Momma, wait and see. And between now and then, 'til I see you again, I'll be loving you. Love Me, your only son Jerry Johnson Sr."
