Sharon A. Burton, a cherished soul whose life brimmed with love, laughter, and generosity, passed away from a serious illness in a Ocala Florida Hospital on August 14, 2026, while visiting her daughter Diane in Homosassa FL.She spent the last 4 years of her life being taken by her daughter Teresa in Roscoe Il after her husbands passing. Born on May 6, 1941, in the serene town of Wautoma, Wisconsin, Sharon was the beloved daughter of James B. and Stella M. (Cook) Dunnett. She was a beacon of light and strength to her family and friends, always ready with a warm smile and a quick wit that could brighten any room.
Sharon's journey began in Woodstock, where she graduated from Woodstock Community High School in 1959. Her passion for learning led her to Spring Arbor College, where she earned an associate's degree, and later, in 1990, she achieved a bachelor's degree. Her career as a CAD drafter at Ingersoll Rand in Mattoon was marked by her dedication, mentorship, and leadership. Sharon's commitment to her craft took her to Pennsylvania, where she continued to impart her knowledge before retiring.
A devoted wife, Sharon shared 33 beautiful years of marriage with her late husband, Thomas W. Burton in Toledo IL after they married on June 10,1989, Together, they built a life filled with love and shared dreams. As a mother, Sharon was a nurturing presence for her children, Teresa A. and Diane M., and as a grandmother, her heart overflowed with pride and affection for her grandchildren Crystal, Ricky, Ashley, and Joe, as well as her great-grandchildren Christopher, Lalia, and Beylah.
Sharon's life was enriched by her love for travel, sewing, and making ragout quilts for her beloved children and grandchildren. Her home was a haven of warmth and welcome, where family and friends gathered to enjoy her hospitality and humor. She possessed a generous spirit, always willing to extend a helping hand to those in need.
Predeceased by her parents, her husband Thomas, her son James B. Fritsch, her sister Lois Terrell, sister Lucille Green, brother David Dunnett, and brother Gordon Dunnett, Sharon's legacy of love and kindness lives on in the hearts of those she leaves behind. Her surviving siblings Barb Daschner, Kathy Warzynski, and Ronald Dunnett, along with her extended family, will forever cherish her memory.
A service to celebrate Sharon's life will be held on October 3, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Toledo Memorial Cemetery in Toledo, Illinois (Cumberland County).
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Sharon's memory to a charity of your choice, honoring her lifelong commitment to generosity and helping others.
