Shaquilla Forrest

July 14, 1995 — November 11, 2014

With profound sadness and tender hearts, we honor the life of Shaquilla "Qui Qui” Forrest, who was lovingly granted her wings on November 11, 2014. Born on July 14, 1995, in Jackson, Tennessee, Shaquilla was a vibrant force of nature whose light touched all who knew her. Shaquilla was the beloved daughter of Shkela Forrest and Roy Gardner. She was the cherished sister of Travaris Forrest, LaBreeia Wilkes, Raven Gardner, and Tandquaria Gardner. Her grandparents, John and Gladys Forrest, and Shirley Grimes hold her memory with great affection. She was predeceased by her deeply loved grandparents, Roy and Lula Gardner, and her dear aunt, Taconor Forrest. A proud graduate of Valley Vista, Shaquilla had recently embarked on her collegiate journey as a freshman at Estrella Mountain College. Her ambition to become a Neonatologist was a testament to her nurturing spirit and her desire to care for the most delicate lives among us. Shaquilla's faith was a cornerstone of her life. A member of the Lane Chapel C.M.E. Church, she later joined Kingdom in the Valley Church in Arizona, where her presence and spirit were felt and cherished. "Qui Qui" was a young woman of many talents and passions. She found joy in horseback riding, where she excelled and won First Place in rodeo, a testament to her determination and skill. Music was another love, and her violin would often fill rooms with melodies as bright as her smile. Dancing was yet another way she expressed her zest for life, moving with a grace that matched her spirit. Shaquilla was known for her fun-loving, funny, and witty personality. She was always the life of the party, lighting up every room she entered with her infectious smile and boundless energy. Her ability to remain positive and bring joy to others, regardless of life's challenges, was a remarkable trait that endeared her to all. A celebration of Shaquilla's life will be held on November 23, 2014, at 12:00 PM at Browns Creek Baptist Church, located at 877-1071 Brown Creek Road, Brownsville, TN 38012. Family, friends, and all whose lives she touched are invited to join in honoring her memory. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made in Shaquilla's honor to a charity of choice, as a way of continuing her legacy of love and care for others. Though Shaquilla's physical presence is no longer with us, her spirit and the joy she brought into the world will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Rest in peace, dear Shaquilla. You are deeply loved and will be eternally missed.

The 23rd Psalm

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
