Shane Peter McCusker

Shane Peter McCusker, a beloved father, grandfather, and friend to many, peacefully departed this world on August 26, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on November 20, 1958, in West Chester, Pennsylvania, Shane filled the lives of those around him with joy and laughter for 67 wonderful years. Growing up in a close-knit family, Shane was the cherished son of Hugh and Mae Newton McCusker. Though his parents and brothers, John J Reagan and Thomas McCusker, predeceased him, their influence and love were constants in Shane's life. He carried their memories forward, sharing stories and traditions with his surviving family: his cherished daughters, Lauren McClain (Brett) and Brittany Steel (Daniel); his adored grandchildren, Adrianna, Gannon, and Scarlett McClain; and his precious great-granddaughter, Leilani Mae London. He also leaves behind his former spouses, Theresa Moore and Sara Moore, who remained important parts of his journey. Shane's early years were marked by his exceptional athleticism. A proud graduate of Downingtown Senior High Class of 1977, he became a local legend in football, baseball, and track & field, setting records that still stand today. His athletic prowess earned him the affectionate title, “Number 14 on your score card, number one in your heart.” Following in the footsteps of his parents, Shane dedicated 30 years to Pepperidge Farm, working in the Downingtown and Denver, PA locations. His commitment and work ethic were admired by colleagues and friends alike, as he brought the same passion to his career as he did to every other aspect of his life. Outside of work, Shane found peace and solitude in nature. Fly-fishing the unstocked freestone streams of Slate Run, PA, was one of his greatest joys. Summers were spent under the sun in Ocean City, while pheasant hunting in Maryland offered adventure and camaraderie. A true Parrot Head, Shane was a devotee of Jimmy Buffett, often savoring a Landshark beer as he sang along. His love of music extended to the soulful sounds of Motown, with Earth, Wind, and Fire, The Temptations, and The Four Tops playing the soundtrack to many cherished moments. Shane’s home was a place of warmth and laughter, amplified by his quick wit and contagious smile. Known for his hospitality, he never let a guest leave without a snack plate in hand. His kindness and generosity left an indelible mark on all who knew him, and his love for his dogs was unparalleled. In honor of Shane’s memory, donations can be made to the Richard J Caron Foundation in Wernersville, PA, an organization close to his heart. As we celebrate Shane's life, we remember the joy he brought to our lives and the legacy of love and laughter he leaves behind. His spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
