Shamar Elkins
December 7, 1994 — April 19, 2026
It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Shamar Elkins, who left this world on April 19, 2026, at the tender age of 31. Born on December 7, 1994, in Shreveport, Louisiana, Shamar was a beacon of light and love to all who knew him.
Shamar was the cherished son of Betty Walker, who nurtured and guided him with unwavering love and support. He was a proud alumnus of C.E. Byrd High School, where he not only excelled academically but also touched the lives of his classmates with his kindness and infectious enthusiasm. Though C.E. Byrd High School has since become a part of his predeceased memories, it remains a significant chapter in his life story.
He was a dedicated and honorable member of the Louisiana Army National Guard, where he served his country with distinction and pride. Shamar's commitment to duty and his fellow service members was a testament to his character, demonstrating courage and integrity in every mission he undertook.
Shamar's life was a tapestry woven with threads of love, laughter, and compassion. He was a devoted brother to Maurice, Kionna, Samatha, Thomas, and Sasha, and a beloved uncle to young Romeo. His family was the center of his universe, and he cherished every moment spent with them, creating memories that will forever be etched in their hearts.
Those who knew Shamar will remember him for his warm smile, his generous spirit, and his ability to bring joy to any room he entered. He had a unique gift for making others feel valued and appreciated, and his legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him.
A private service to honor Shamar's life will be held on April 29, 2026, at 1:00 PM in Shreveport, Louisiana. While the service will be intimate, the outpouring of love and support from the community is a testament to the profound impact Shamar had on the lives of so many.
In this time of sorrow, we take comfort in knowing that Shamar's spirit will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. We invite those who wish to honor his memory to consider acts of kindness in his name, as Shamar would have wanted nothing more than for his legacy to be one of love and compassion.
Rest in peace, dear Shamar. You will forever be missed, but never forgotten.
