In Loving Memory

Shalonda Hammond
December 15, 1972 — April 16, 2026
The world grew a little dimmer on April 16, 2026, when Shalonda Hammond, a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, departed this life peacefully at her home in Milwaukee WI, following a courageous battle with illness. Born on December 15, 1972, in the vibrant city of Memphis Tennessee Shalonda was the beloved daughter of Rosalind Hawkins, Romney Hawkins and the late Henry Louis Hammond, who both instilled in her a spirit of resilience and warmth that she carried with her throughout her journey.
Shalonda was predeceased by her dear daughter, Nya Y. Hammond, whose memory she held close to her heart, her father, Henry Louis Hammond, and her treasured grandmother, Willie B. Dockins. She is survived by her loving children: Asia Goodwin, Najee Hammond, Nya Hammond, and Adai Hammond. Shalonda was a proud and devoted grandmother to four beautiful grandchildren: Pierre Gardner Jr., Nylah Carson, Sahaj A. Hammond, and Island S. Goodwin, whose laughter and joy brought light to her days.
Shalonda shared a special bond with her two sisters, Keisha Hammond and her "baby sis," Celia P. Hawkins, who were her confidantes and lifelong companions. Her family, both departed and surviving, was her greatest joy and source of strength.
A woman of remarkable character, Shalonda was known for her nurturing spirit, her unwavering patience, and her ability to light up any room with her infectious smile and gentle humor. Her home was a sanctuary of love and laughter, where everyone felt welcome and cherished. She had a unique gift of making those around her feel valued and understood, offering wisdom and comfort through life’s challenges.
Shalonda's legacy is one of love, resilience, and enduring faith. She was deeply committed to her family, always putting their needs above her own. Her sacrifices and unwavering support shaped the people they are today. This love and devotion were beautifully captured in a heartfelt message from her daughter: "Mommie 🤍,
I still can’t believe you’re gone. My heart feels so heavy without you here, and there’s a space in my life that can never be filled. You were my safe place, my strength, and my greatest love. I keep thinking about the times we would sit together and talk about everything and nothing at the same time—how you’d listen to me, guide me, and somehow always know exactly what to say to make things better. Those moments mean everything to me now, and I’ll carry them with me forever. Thank you for your love, your patience, and every sacrifice you made for me. You shaped me into who I am, and I promise to keep making you proud every day. I miss you more than words could ever express, but I find comfort knowing your love will always stay with me. Rest peacefully, Mommie. I love you forever 🤍"
A celebration of Shalonda's life will be held on May 1, 2026, at 12:00 PM at Paradise Funeral Home, located at 7625 W Appleton Ave. Friends and family are invited to gather and share memories, honoring the remarkable life she led and the indelible impact she left on all who knew her.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Shalonda’s memory to a charity of choice, reflecting her generous spirit and commitment to helping others.
Shalonda Hammond’s life was a testament to love, strength, and grace. Though she may have left this world, her spirit and legacy will continue to inspire and guide those who had the privilege of knowing her. Rest in peace, dear Shalonda, for you have left behind a legacy of love that will live on forever.
