Born on March 8, 1930, in Brooklyn, New York, Seymour was a beacon of warmth and kindness, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the privilege to know him.
The son of Isadore and Anna, Seymour was the first in his family to attend college, a milestone that led him to medical school and a lifelong career in medicine. After completing his education, Seymour served with distinction in the US Air Force as a flight surgeon in Korea for two years following the Korean War. His dedication to service and compassion for others became hallmarks of his character.
Seymour's professional journey led him to establish a thriving OBGYN practice in Wayne, New Jersey, alongside his longtime partner and dear friend, Bernie Simon and where he worked until he was 90. Throughout his career, Seymour delivered thousands of babies, each one a testament to his skill and the gentle care he provided to expectant mothers. His practice continues to flourish, a lasting legacy of his commitment to his patients and community.
Seymour was a devoted supporter of Temple Beth Tikvah in Wayne, New Jersey, where he found a spiritual home and a community that cherished him. His generosity and kindness were evident in every interaction, as he treated everyone with respect and warmth.
Seymour was a man of many interests, particularly enjoying travel adventures with his beloved wife, Brenda, and their cherished friends. His sense of humor, generous spirit, and supportive nature made him an adored figure in both his family and social circles. Loved by all, his presence brought joy and laughter to those around him.
Seymour's life was enriched by his family, whom he adored with all his heart. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Brenda, and their sons, Douglas, Steven (and wife Jill), Michael (and wife Susan), and Jonathan (and wife Samantha). He was a proud grandfather to Matthew, Benjamin, Emma, Tess, and Julian, and a doting great-grandfather to Samuel, with a great-granddaughter on the way. Seymour was predeceased by his brothers, Eugene and Murray, and his memory will forever be cherished by his family and friends.
A service to honor Seymour's life will be held on November 4, 2026, at 11:00 AM. His family kindly requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Tourette Association of America https://tourette.org/), in memory of Seymour's enduring generosity.
