Sevilla Van Der Linden

Sevilla Van Der Linden, a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2026, after a brief battle with leukemia. Born on August 30, 1943, in Olean, New York, Sevilla was the beloved daughter of Arnold and Thelma Bixby. Sevilla's life was a tapestry of vibrant colors and warm textures, much like the crafts she so dearly loved. She married the love of her life, Ray Van Der Linden, on April 4, 1964, in Cuba, New York. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and family. Though Ray preceded her in death, their union was blessed with two wonderful daughters, Gayle (Rick )Blackburn of Midland, Texas, and Jean (Andy) Runyan of Fort Collins, Colorado. Her daughters were her pride and joy, and she cherished every moment spent with them and their families. Sevilla's family was the center of her world. She was the proud grandmother of seven: Jennifer Blackburn and her companion Clay, Cody (Nina) Blackburn, Joshua Blackburn and his companion Analicia, and Kyle Blackburn and his companion Monica, all from Midland, Texas; and Case (Nicole) Runyan, Fort Collins, Colorado, Connor (Paige) Runyan, Puyallup, Washington and Haeley (Noah) Lovell Fort Collins, Colorado. Her legacy continues through her four great-grandchildren: Jesse Harrison, Aliyah Blackburn, Grayson Blackburn, and Tate Lovell, all of whom brought immense joy to her life. She is also survived by her sister Bonnie Brunner, and brother Bob Bixby. Sevilla's creative spirit was boundless. She was an exceptional crafter, finding joy in knitting, crocheting, and any craft she could create. Her hands wove warmth and love into every piece she made. In addition to her crafting, Sevilla was an avid bowler and golfer, enjoying the camaraderie and challenge of each game. Her kindness, love, and patience were hallmarks of her character, touching the lives of everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. After Ray's passing, Sevilla formed deep bonds with two special friends, Diane and Jeanne, whose companionship she treasured dearly. Sevilla was predeceased by her parents, her husband Ray, her sister Carole, and her brother Harold. Her loving spirit lives on in her daughters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and dear friends. In honor of Sevilla's memory, the family suggests donations to Texas Oncology-Allison Cancer Center, Midland Texas, where she received compassionate care during her illness. Sevilla's light shone brightly in the lives of those she loved, and her legacy of love and creativity will be cherished forever.
