Serina Marquez, a cherished member of the La Loma community, passed away unexpectedly at her home on August 9, 2026, at the age of 53. Born on June 18, 1973, in Albuquerque, NM, Serina lived a life rich with love, laughter, and dedication to her family and community. Serina was the beloved daughter of the late Ralph and Pauline Marquez and the sister of the late Robert Madrid. She is survived by her devoted husband, Joseph Gutierrez, and her children, Gary Sisneros, Jr. and his spouse Patricia, Dustin Sisneros and his girlfriend Amanda, and Serina Madrid. Her siblings, Ralph Marquez and his spouse Kathy, Paul Marquez, and Isabel Madrid-Roybal and her spouse Damian, as well as her numerous grandchildren, nephews, nieces, family, and friends, all mourn her passing. A proud Bulldog, Serina graduated from Albuquerque High, where she began building the foundation for a successful career as a manager of a trucking company and a small business owner. Her professional accomplishments were only matched by her personal dedication to her family and her faith. A lifelong Catholic, Serina found solace and community at San Felipe de Neri Catholic Church in Old Town Albuquerque and San Jose Catholic Church in Anton Chico. Serina was known for her warmth, kindness, and vibrant spirit. Her knowledge of remedios and her love for reading, gardening, fishing, crocheting, shopping, and spending time with her family and friends made her a beloved figure to all who knew her. Her gentle wisdom and generous heart touched many lives, leaving a legacy of love and compassion. A funeral service to honor Serina's life will be held on August 29, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at San Jose Catholic Church, located at 1081 Iglesia Rd., Anton Chico, NM, 87711. Family and friends are invited to attend and celebrate the life of this remarkable woman. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of one's choice, as a tribute to Serina's generous spirit and her commitment to helping others. Serina Marquez will be profoundly missed by all who knew her, but her loving spirit will continue to inspire and guide her family and friends. Her legacy of kindness, faith, and love will forever remain in our hearts.
