Selene Stein, a cherished soul whose life was marked by warmth, intellect, and unwavering kindness, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2026, after facing cancer with grace and great strength. Born on August 15, 1937, in Brooklyn, New York, Selene was the beloved daughter of Charles Jack Fleisig and Elsie Fleisig. Selene shared a beautiful marriage of 68 years with her devoted husband, Dr. Robert Stein. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and countless memories. Their family grew to include three children (Shari, Lori and husband Dino, Steven and wife Gosia), five grandchildren (Danielle and husband Cory, Tyler, Daniel, Nicole and Isabella), and three great-grandchildren (Carter, Greyson and Lenox), each of whom held a special place in Selene's heart. Selene is predeceased by her parents, her brother Bruce and her brother-in-law who was also named Bruce). She is survived by her sister Sydelle and many wonderful nieces and nephews). Her family remembers her as a constant source of love and encouragement. A graduate of New York City Community College, Selene dedicated her professional life to the medical field as a transcriptionist and secretary. Selene's life was rich with interests and hobbies. She was a voracious reader, a skilled card and mahjong player, and an enthusiastic tennis player. She enjoyed needlepoint, knitting, and many crafts over the years. Selene was particularly passionate about collecting art glass, treasures that reflected her appreciation for beauty and art. An adventurous spirit, she traveled the world, with her fondest memories rooted in her travels to Europe. Her community knew her as an avid card player, participating in numerous card groups, where her competitive spirit and camaraderie were cherished. Selene’s kindness extended beyond her family, touching the lives of many friends and acquaintances who were fortunate to know her. "We are but travelers passing through this world. Our true home is waiting for us." Selene Stein's journey has come to an end, but her legacy of love, kindness, and strength will endure in the hearts of those she leaves behind. A service celebrating Selene's life will be held on August 21, 2026, at the Beth Israel Memorial Chapel in Boynton Beach, located at 11115 Jog Road, Boynton Beach, Florida at 1:00. A private burial will follow. Shiva will also be private. The family has requested that donations be made to the Trustbridge Hospice Foundation, a cause close to Selene's heart as she received wonderful care there. Her family would like to express their gratitude for all of the kindness extended to them during this very difficult time.
