‘Seilala Fihi’isalamapatu Tonga Seini Fautepi’tonga-Taulanga

With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Seilala Fihi’isalamapatu Tonga Seini Fautepi’tonga-Taulanga on May 1, 2026, at the age of 96. She departed this world surrounded by love in her room in San Diego, California. Seilala was born on January 6, 1930, in the serene village of Fahefa, nestled within the beautiful islands of Nuku’alofa, Tonga. Seilala was the cherished daughter of Ketifakapo Taulanga, and she lived a life enriched by the love and traditions of her Tongan heritage. Throughout her long and fulfilling life, Seilala embodied the spirit of her homeland, carrying with her its values of family, kindness, and community. Preceding her in eternal rest are her four beloved sisters: Hehèfalangi, Ketapou, Fakalavelave, and Huhui, and her eleven treasured brothers: Kalàu, Hihifo, Makale, Fiona, Kafatapa’i, Kalà, Ikotafa, Ilaitua, Tepeni, Kulà, and Taka’taka. Each of them held a special place in her heart, and their memories were her cherished companions throughout her life. Seilala is survived by her devoted sister, ‘Iahanitaki’taki Folau ‘Taulanga, whose presence has been a constant source of strength and joy. Together, they shared a bond that transcended time and distance, a testament to the enduring power of sisterhood. Seilala is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews, each of whom she adored and who, in turn, loved her as a guiding matriarch in their lives. Seilala's life was a tapestry of cherished moments and enduring relationships. She was a beacon of wisdom, grace, and resilience, touching the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her gentle spirit and warm smile could light up the darkest of days, bringing comfort and joy to those around her. A devoted daughter, sister, and aunt, Seilala will be remembered for her unwavering dedication to her family and her community. Her life was a testament to the strength of love and the importance of family ties, qualities that she instilled in everyone she encountered. Though our hearts ache with her passing, we find solace in the knowledge that Seilala lived a full and meaningful life. Her legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends, and her spirit will forever be a gentle presence in our lives.
