Sean Michael Opsal, a cherished son, brother, uncle, devoted partner, loving father, and steadfast friend, passed away on May 13, 2026, in Seattle, Washington, after a courageous battle with cancer that lasted nearly five years. Born on April 1, 1977, in Libertyville, Illinois, Sean brought joy and laughter to those around him throughout his life, leaving an indelible mark on everyone he met. Sean was the beloved son of Richard J. Opsal and Janice E. (O'Brien) Opsal, who provided him with a nurturing and loving upbringing. He is survived by his devoted partner, Kristine Seeklander, and their cherished daughter, Mika Seeklander Opsal, who were his greatest sources of joy and inspiration. Sean also leaves behind his siblings, sister Kristin Opsal and brother Adam Opsal, along with Adam's wife Britnee and their sons, Brayden, Ryker, Maddox, and Trexler Opsal, his beloved nephews. His extended family includes numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends who will forever hold him in their hearts. Sean's educational journey began in Wright, Wyoming, where he graduated as Salutatorian from Wright High School in 1995. He continued his studies at the University of Wyoming, where he cultivated a lifelong love of learning and adventure. Over the years, Sean worked a variety of jobs that enriched his life experiences, including a memorable stint at Trader Joe's in Seattle. Most recently, he was dedicated to his role at Seattle Marine and Fish, where he oversaw daily operations in the warehouse, earning respect and admiration from his colleagues. Sean was a man of varied interests and passions. He enjoyed his travels through Europe and South America also later traveling with Kristine and Mika to Mexico He delighted in the intricate world of Legos and the epic stories of Star Wars, and he was a voracious consumer of music and movies from all genres. An ardent fan of the Denver Broncos, Sean never missed an opportunity to cheer for his favorite team. He had a deep appreciation for whiskey, reveling in its rich flavors and stories. His true happiness, however, was found in the simple joys of life—spending time with Kristine and Mika and savoring the camaraderie of Karaoke and trivia nights with friends at the local bar, where his quick wit and easy-going nature shone brightly. Sean's gentle spirit, infectious smile, and unwavering love for his family and friends will be remembered and cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy will live on through the warm memories and stories shared by those who loved him. A celebration of Sean's life will be held on July 11, 2026, at 12:00 noon at the Wright Community Center, located at 201 Wright Blvd, Wright, WY. Family, friends, and all whose lives Sean touched are invited to gather in remembrance and honor of a remarkable man who brought light and love into the world. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Sean's memory to cancer research, in hopes of aiding the fight against the disease that took him from us too soon. Sean's spirit will continue to inspire courage, love, and resilience in all who knew him.
