In Loving Memory

Scotty Hood Sr
January 3, 1969 — July 12, 2026
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Scotty Hood Sr., a cherished husband, father, grandfather, son, and friend. Scotty left us on July 12, 2026, after a courageous battle with a chronic illness at Piedmont Atlanta Hospital. Born on January 3, 1969, in Tuskegee, Alabama, Scotty's life was a tapestry of love, laughter, and dedication.
Scotty was the beloved son of Ozell Hood and the late Ossie Pickard, and he was raised in a family that nurtured his vibrant spirit. He graduated from Chavala High School in 1988, where he first showcased his talents as an exceptional athlete, participating in basketball and baseball. His love for sports continued into adulthood, and he became a prominent figure in the softball community, playing for the renowned TNW Brown Club. Fondly known as "Scotty 2Hottie," his talents and infectious enthusiasm earned him a special place in the hearts of all who knew him.
In 1999, Scotty married the love of his life, Tiffany Hood, in Columbus, Georgia. Together, they shared a beautiful journey, raising four wonderful children: Scotty Hood Jr., Courtney Hood, Jasmine Hood, and Tiera Hood. Scotty also treasured his time with his five grandchildren: Areyonah Hood, Kentavious Ferguson, Tomiya Mullins, Couriyah Hood, and Ryleigh Hood, who brought immense joy to his life.
Professionally, Scotty dedicated over 15 years to Aludyne, formerly Columbus Foundry, where he worked as a supervisor. Known for his unwavering work ethic, Scotty was admired for his training skills, hard work, and commitment to excellence. His colleagues fondly remember him as a man who led by example, always ready with a joke to lighten the mood.
Scotty was a man of many talents—a true jack of all trades. Whether building a house, fixing cars, cooking a feast, singing, or dancing, Scotty approached life with enthusiasm and skill. His quick wit and warm smile left a lasting impression on everyone he met, and his kindness and generosity touched countless lives.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Tiffany; his children; his mother, Ozell Hood; step-mother, Osie Pearl Pickard; mother-in-law, Jacqueline West; siblings Michael Hood, David (Tara) Hood, Wendy Hood-Brooks, Patricia Hood, Rickey Fears, Jean Ann (Robert) Williams, and Jeffrey James; brother-in-laws Steve West and Corey West; and a host of beloved aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Scotty was predeceased by his father, Ossie Pickard, and grandmother, Kelvy Lee Hood.
A service to honor Scotty's life will be held on July 19, 2026, at 3:00 PM at Greater St. John Missionary Baptist Church, US Highway 80 W, Crawford, AL 36867. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Piedmont Atlanta Hospital for their compassionate care and support.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Scotty's memory to a charity of your choice, reflecting the spirit of generosity he embodied throughout his life.
