In Loving Memory

Scott Vernon Glade
January 14, 1947 — September 19, 2026
Scott Vernon Glade, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at home in Colorado Springs, CO on September 19, 2026, surrounded by his family. Born on January 14, 1947, in Salt Lake City, Scott was the eldest son of James Vernon Glade Jr. and Beverly Butterworth Glade. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Dennis.
Scott and Claire were married on November 21, 1969, a union that lasted over 56 years. He is also survived by his son, Keefer and his wife, Arika; his daughter, Leslie, and her husband, Kent; and his three adored granddaughters, Ruby, Charli, and Astrid, who brought immense joy and pride to his life. Scott is also survived by his sister Pamela and her husband Tony; brother Jeffrey and his partner Rachel; and lots of nieces and nephews.
A graduate of Olympus High School in 1965, Scott furthered his education at the University of Utah, graduating with a double major in French and English. He served honorably in the Utah National Guard and graduated from the Utah Military Academy demonstrating his dedication and commitment to his country.
Scott devoted over 40 years of his life to the family business, Glade Candy, now known as Taffy Town. In 2004, after overcoming a heart attack and undergoing a heart transplant, he embraced a new calling in life as a middle school special education teacher in Jordan School District. Scott often expressed that teaching was the most rewarding chapter of his career, where he found true fulfillment and purpose.
Known for his quick wit and eloquent turn of phrase, Scott was a man of many talents and interests. He was fluent in French, a skill he acquired during an LDS mission in France and Switzerland. His love for life was evident in the simple pleasures he relished—enjoying a Diet Mountain Dew, walking through Dimple Dell and Daybreak, solving puzzles, yogurt and wearing his signature Hawaiian shirts.
A Celebration of Life to honor Scott will be held on November 28, 2026, at 2:00 PM at the Garden Park Clubhouse, located at 11150 Tydeman Way, South Jordan, Utah. Please join Claire, Keefer and Leslie for a time of remembrance. If you have a story to share, we would love to hear about Scott’s impact on your life.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Rescue Mission of Salt Lake, an organization close to Scott's heart.
