December 10, 1946 — March 29, 2026

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Scott Douglas Holmes, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. Scott left this world peacefully on March 28, 2026, at the age of 79, in the comfort of his home in Seguin, Texas, embraced by the love of his wife and children. Born on December 10, 1946, in Paris, Texas, Scott was the cherished son of James and Mary Holmes, who instilled in him the values of kindness and generosity that he carried throughout his life. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Robert Holmes, and leaves behind a legacy of warmth and laughter. Scott shared a remarkable 55-year marriage with his devoted wife, Charolette Holmes, whom he married on March 17, 1971, in San Antonio. Together, they embarked on a journey of love and adventure, ultimately establishing their home and life in Seguin, Texas. Their marriage was a testament to enduring love, filled with shared dreams and cherished memories. Scott was the proud father of two children, Richard Holmes and Cynthia Hafner, who were his pride and joy. He also adored his grandchildren, Daniel Hafner, Jason Hafner, and Kyra Holmes, and was blessed with a great-grandchild, Ian Hafner, who brought him immense happiness. Scott's career as an Owner/Operator truck driver spanned 28 years, during which he traversed countless miles and made lifelong friends along the way. After retiring from truck driving, he found joy and purpose as a school bus driver for six years, warmly greeted by the smiles of the children he transported each day. In service to his country, Scott proudly served in the Army National Guard for 14 years, embodying the values of duty and honor. His dedication to service extended into his personal life, where he was a man of the community, always ready with a helping hand or a friendly conversation. Scott was a man who found solace in the simple pleasures of life—working on his farm and tackling projects around the house. His love for the land and his knack for handiwork were surpassed only by his love for people. Known for his quick wit and infectious humor, Scott had the rare ability to make everyone feel at ease. He never met a stranger and could engage anyone in conversation, leaving a lasting impression with his charm and warmth. He is survived by his loving sister, Jeanie Shone, who shared a special bond with him through life's many seasons. The memories they created together will forever be cherished. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Scott's primary doctor and the compassionate staff at Guadalupe Regional Hospice Services for their unwavering care and support during his final days. Scott's life was a testament to love, laughter, and the beauty of human connection. He touched the lives of many, and his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. As we say goodbye, we carry forward the lessons he taught us through his actions: to welcome others with open arms, to find joy in each day, and to embrace life with a heart full of love. A celebration of Scott's life will be held at a later date, where stories and memories will be shared in his honor. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a charity of your choice in Scott’s memory. Rest in peace, dear Scott. You will be deeply missed and forever loved.
