With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Mom who left us on September 13, 2026, at the age of 82. Born on September 27, 1943, in the beautiful state of South Dakota, Scena was the cherished daughter of Truman and Evelyn Cross. Her life was a testament to love, compassion, and unwavering dedication to her family and community.
Scena's journey was marked by her deep commitment to helping others, a trait she carried throughout her esteemed career as a nurse. After graduating high school, she pursued her passion for caregiving and attended medical school. Her vocation as a nurse became a lifelong mission, and she touched countless lives with her kindness and healing touch.
In addition to her professional accomplishments, Scena found joy in collecting dolls, a hobby that brought her immense happiness. Her love for children was evident not only in her career but also in her personal life, where she embraced every opportunity to nurture and cherish those around her. Scena had a unique zest for life, often seen driving her Cadillac adorned with charming eyelashes on the headlights, a reflection of her playful spirit.
Family was at the core of Scena's existence. She was predeceased by her loving parents, Truman and Evelyn Cross; her dear brothers, Max and Ceylon Cross; her devoted husband, Clyde Brumbelow Sr., with whom she shared 40 wonderful years; and her beloved sons, Clyde Brumbelow the 2nd and David Brumbelow. She is survived by her adoring children, Calena Anderton, Scena Nelson, Dawn Pacheco, and Alan (DJ) Jones, who will carry forward her legacy of love and compassion.
Scena's warmth and nurturing spirit extended to her grandchildren: Clyde Brumbelow 3rd, Ceylon Brumbelow, Shelia Silveira, Sarah Anderton, Joseph Pacheco, Kristin Sewell, April Pacheco, Samantha Owen’s, Alan Jones as well as her Great-Grandchildren, and Great-Great Grandchildren along with Nieces & Nephews & Friends who brought endless joy to her life. Her family and friends will always remember her as a beacon of love who wanted nothing more than to be surrounded by those she cherished.
A service to celebrate Scena's life will be held on September 25, 2026, at 12:30 PM at Sunset View Cemetery, located at 101 Colusa Ave, El Cerrito, CA 94530.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all who have been a part of Scena's life. " Her memory will forever remain a guiding light in our hearts, as we remember her warmth, kindness, and the love she so freely gave.
