Sarslonda Serretha Byther, affectionately known as "DOLL," was born on March 16, 1965, in Hazlehurst, Mississippi. She passed away peacefully on September 24, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family, after a valiant battle with cancer. Despite the challenges she faced, Sarslonda approached each day with unwavering strength, grace, and dignity, leaving a lasting imprint on the hearts of all who knew her. From an early age, Sarslonda was deeply rooted in her faith, initially as a member of St. James Missionary Baptist Church. In her later years, she became an integral part of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, where she served diligently on the usher board, sang in the choir, and led the kitchen committee as its president. Her contributions to her church community were a testament to her unwavering devotion and commitment to serving others. Sarslonda dedicated 16 years of her life to the Hazlehurst City School District, where she worked in the elementary school cafeteria. Her nurturing spirit and kind heart formed lasting bonds with the children she served, leaving a legacy of love and care that touched countless young lives. On July 19, 2008, Sarslonda married the love of her life, Ray Charles Byther. Together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Sarslonda was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a caring grandmother who found immense joy in cooking and gathering her family together. Her warmth and kindness created a haven of love and comfort for her family, whom she adored and supported unconditionally. Sarslonda was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Jessie Williams Sr. and Verylan Stovall; her grandchildren, Don III, Howard III, and Jarvaneshia Patterson; her brother-in-law Calvin Washington and father-in-law Troy Washington Sr.; and her nephews, Gerome Brown, Antwon Brown, Sr., and Franklin Hood III. She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories to her devoted husband, Ray Charles Byther; her daughters, Cynthia Williams, Tameka (Lamar) Buie, and Patricia Williams; her son, Fred (Charmaine) Williams; and her stepson, David Charles Brown. Her grandchildren, Malik, Zakayla Jamarion, Howardneish, Donte, Da'Niyda, Jamarion, Kaniya, Joshua, Makayla, and Canden; and her great-grandchildren, Kayleigh, Kyren, and Xiah, will forever hold her memory close to their hearts. Sarslonda is also survived by her mother-in-laws, Catherine Brown and Lula Washington, and a host of siblings, spiritual sisters, in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends who will fondly remember her kindness and love. A service to celebrate the life of Sarslonda Serretha Byther will be held on October 2, 2026, at 2:30 PM at Antioch Missionary Baptist, located at 13146 US-51, Hazlehurst, MS 39083. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to a charity of your choice in honor of Sarslonda's compassionate spirit and her lifelong dedication to helping others. Sarslonda will be remembered for her enduring love, her unwavering faith, and the joy she brought to the lives of everyone she touched. Her memory will forever be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
