It is with profound sadness and heartfelt admiration that we announce the passing of our beloved Sarah Lunsford, who left this world on May 24, 2026, at the age of 81. Born on September 11, 1944, in Coleman, Texas, Sarah was the cherished daughter of Bunk and Emma Medcalf. She gracefully concluded her earthly journey after a courageous battle with illness, surrounded by the love and comfort of her family.
Sarah's life was a testament to strength, resilience, and an unwavering dedication to her loved ones. She is predeceased by her dear parents, her brother James Otto Medcalf of Shelton, Washington, her sister Dorothy Morgan Compton of Lampasas, Texas, and her sister Reba Peercy Trimble of Pampa, Texas. Despite these profound losses, Sarah's enduring spirit was a beacon of hope and inspiration to all who knew her.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 62 years, whose partnership was a testament to enduring love and commitment. Their shared journey was further enriched by their daughter, Denise Stewart, and her husband Bob, who brought immense joy and pride to Sarah's life. She also leaves behind a cherished extended family of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, along with a circle of close friends who were touched by her warmth and generosity.
Throughout her career, Sarah distinguished herself as a corporate secretary in the oil and gas industry, where her professionalism and dedication left an indelible mark. Beyond her professional accomplishments, Sarah was an avid quilter, a pursuit that brought her immense joy and allowed her to share her talents with others. Her quilting groups were not just gatherings; they were a testament to the bonds of friendship and creativity that Sarah so valued.
In honor of Sarah's life and her wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held. The family kindly requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, reflecting Sarah's compassionate spirit and commitment to supporting those in need.
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the caregivers and hospice staff from the Beehive Home in Andrews, Texas, whose compassion and care provided solace during Sarah's final days.
Though she has left this world, Sarah Lunsford's legacy of love, kindness, and creativity will continue to inspire those who knew her. Her memory will forever remain a source of comfort and strength, reminding us of the beauty and grace she brought into our lives.
