Sarah Griego

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sarah Griego, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who left this world on July 24, 2026. Born on October 28, 1955, in Albuquerque, Sarah was the cherished daughter of Nicolas Reynaldo and Barbara Griego. Her presence brought warmth and light to every life she touched, and her memory will be forever cherished. Sarah's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with love, compassion, and dedication. She graduated from Valley High School in Albuquerque, where she began forming the foundations of friendships and values that would last a lifetime. In the later years of her career, Sarah found fulfillment and purpose as a caregiver, offering kindness and support to those who needed it most, embodying the true spirit of service and generosity. Sarah's passions extended beyond her professional life. As a young girl, she delighted in playing the viola and spending her summers at camp, creating memories that would last a lifetime. Her love for music continued as she enjoyed listening to the KANW Spanish music and dedications program on Saturday mornings, a tradition that brought her joy and connected her to her cultural roots. Bingo nights were also a favorite pastime, where she enjoyed the company of friends and the thrill of the game. Family was the cornerstone of Sarah's life. She cherished holiday gatherings at her mother Barbara's house, where laughter and love filled the air. Sarah took great pleasure in visiting nearby aunts and uncles, ensuring that family bonds remained strong and vibrant. Her warm, welcoming nature made everyone feel at home. Sarah was predeceased by her beloved parents, Reynaldo and Barbara Griego; her son, Reynaldo; her brothers, Lawrence (and his wife Dolores), Steven, and Nicolasito; and her sister, Nicolacita. Despite these losses, Sarah's spirit remained unbroken, and her love continued to shine brightly for her surviving family members. She leaves behind her devoted husband, David Covard, who stood by her side as a partner, confidant, and best friend. She is also survived by her daughter, Georgia, and her granddaughter, Skylar, along with Skylar's husband, Levi. Her legacy of love continues through her five grandchildren, who will carry forward the values and joy she instilled in them. Sarah's siblings, Modesto, Theresa, Michael (and his wife Marie), Amadeo Sanchez Jr. (and his wife Kerri), and Leveo Sanchez, will forever hold her memory close to their hearts. A special recognition goes to Amadeo Sanchez Sr., partner to our beloved mother Barbara for forty years, who was an important figure in Sarah's life. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Sarah's memory to a charity of your choice, honoring her legacy of compassion and care. Sarah Griego's gentle spirit, unwavering kindness, and love for life have left an indelible mark on all who knew her. While we mourn her passing, we also celebrate a life lived with grace and purpose. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all whose lives she touched.
