It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the peaceful passing of Sarah Gonzetta Reese Borden, who departed this world on April 1, 2026, at the age of 90. Sarah was born on September 28, 1935, in the close-knit community of Old Hickory, Tennessee, where she first learned the values of love, resilience, and family from her beloved parents, Molly and Louis Reese. Sarah's journey through life was marked by her unwavering love and dedication to her family. She was a devoted wife to Robert Eugene Borden, affectionately known as Billy, with whom she shared a lifetime of cherished memories. Together, they nurtured a large and loving family, raising nine children: Gregory, Patricia Renae, Ivory, Robert Smoky, Judy, Bridget, Baby Boy, and Brian. Her legacy is further enriched by her 22 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her immense joy and pride. Sarah was preceded in death by her dear parents, Molly and Louis, her precious son, Little Billy, and her three brothers and one sister. Though her life was touched by loss, Sarah's spirit remained unbroken, and she continued to inspire those around her with her strength and grace. Family was the cornerstone of Sarah's life. She found immense joy in the simple pleasures of being surrounded by her loved ones, where laughter and warmth filled the air. She was an avid card player, delighting in the camaraderie and friendly competition that came with each game. Her home was a haven where everyone felt welcome, and her capacity for love knew no bounds. Sarah's gentle nature and compassionate heart left an indelible mark on all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her life was a testament to kindness, generosity, and the enduring power of familial bonds. She was a source of wisdom, comfort, and unwavering support, always ready with a listening ear and a warm embrace. In the hearts of her family and friends, Sarah will forever be remembered as a matriarch who embodied the true meaning of love, resilience, and grace. Her legacy lives on in the lives of those she touched, and her spirit will continue to guide and inspire future generations. While the void left by her passing is immeasurable, her memory will be cherished and celebrated by all who knew her. A private family service will be held to honor Sarah's life and her extraordinary journey. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice, in memory of Sarah's generous and giving spirit. As we say goodbye to Sarah, we take comfort in knowing that her love will continue to surround us, and her spirit will forever be a guiding light in our lives. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten. May she rest in eternal peace.
