In Loving Memory of Sarah Gonzetta Reese Borden
With profound sadness and a deep sense of gratitude for a life well-lived, we announce the peaceful passing of Sarah Gonzetta Reese Borden on April 1, 2026, at the age of 90. Sarah left this earthly realm due to natural causes, surrounded by the love of her family, who were blessed by her grace and presence for many memorable years.
Born on September 28, 1935, in Old Hickory, Tennessee, Sarah began her journey in a world vastly different from the one we know today. At the tender age of 12, she moved with her family to Cleveland, Ohio, a city she came to call home. It was here that Sarah blossomed into the remarkable woman who touched the lives of everyone she met.
Sarah was the cherished daughter of Molly and Louis Reese, who instilled in her a deep-seated love for family and community. She was predeceased by her beloved parents, her dear son "Little Billy," and her three brothers and one sister, who undoubtedly welcomed her into their embrace once more.
Sarah's life was a testament to resilience and love, nurtured and shared with her devoted husband, Robert Eugene Borden, lovingly known as Billy. Together they raised a large and vibrant family, a legacy of love that endures in her surviving nine children: Gregory, Patricia, Renae, Ivory, Robert, Smoky, Judy, Bridget, Baby Boy, and Brian. Each of them carries a piece of Sarah's heart and her spirit lives on in their lives.
Her nurturing spirit and wisdom extended to her 22 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren, who were the light of her life. Sarah cherished every moment spent surrounded by her family, finding joy in their laughter and achievements. Her home was a sanctuary of warmth and love, where everyone felt welcomed and cherished.
Sarah had a passion for card games, often gathering family and friends around the table for spirited matches, where laughter was the only prize that mattered. Her love for card games was not just about the game itself but about the connections and memories created with each shuffle and deal.
Sarah was a beacon of love, a guiding light to her family, and a friend to many. Her kindness knew no bounds, and her strength was a source of inspiration. She leaves behind a host of family members and friends who were touched by her generosity, humor, and unwavering faith.
Though our hearts are heavy with her passing, we find comfort in knowing that Sarah's spirit remains with us, in the stories we share, the traditions we uphold, and the love that will forever bind us together. Her life was a testament to the power of love, and her legacy will continue to inspire all those who were fortunate enough to know her.
As we bid farewell to our beloved Sarah, we do so with gratitude for the countless memories she gifted us and the profound love she shared. She will be dearly missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those she loved.
A memorial service celebrating Sarah's life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to honor her extraordinary journey and the indelible mark she left on our lives.
Rest in peace, dear Sarah. You are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure.
