May 5, 1940 — April 3, 2026

It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Sarah Beatrice Cook, affectionately known as Bea, who departed this world on April 3, 2026. Bea was born on May 5, 1940, in the close-knit community of Sargent, Georgia, to her loving parents, James W. and Ruth M. Landers. She left this life as she lived it—surrounded by the unwavering love of her family, following a brave battle with sudden health challenges. Bea was the beloved wife of JC Cook, her devoted partner of 64 years, whom she met at the textile mill where they both worked. They exchanged vows on April 8, 1961, embarking on a journey that would see them build a beautiful family and a cherished life together. Their union was blessed with wonderful children: Sylvia Pendley, James (Tim) Cook, and Dan Cook, who carry forward her legacy with grace and strength. A woman of gentle spirit and boundless generosity, Bea's life was a testament to love and kindness. She was predeceased by her parents, her dear sisters Elizabeth Hunter and Grace Powers, her precious daughter Baby Pat Cook, a son-in law Paul Pendley and her cherished granddaughter Sheila Pendley. Her family finds solace in knowing they are reunited in eternal peace. Bea's heart was as vast as the gardens she lovingly tended. An avid lover of the outdoors, she hunted and fished when she was able. She found joy in the simple beauty of her flowers and the thrilling cheers of her grandchildren's sports events, which inspired her lifelong passion for baseball and unwavering support for her Atlanta Braves. Her zest for life was apparent in her desire to travel, her collection of angel figurines, and her affinity for bright colors and beautiful blooms. A dedicated homemaker, Bea's career spanned various roles, including working in the textile industry, serving as a school meal prep associate, and guiding young lives as a school bus monitor. Later in life, she achieved a personal milestone by obtaining her GED from West Georgia Technical College—a testament to her enduring spirit and commitment to growth. A devout member of the Ephesus Christian Church, Bea’s faith was the cornerstone of her life. Her involvement extended beyond spiritual devotion, as she supported numerous commendable causes and was a treasured member of her community. Her lemonade was legendary, her fried green beans unmatched, but it was her warm embrace and encouraging words that truly left an indelible mark on those who were fortunate to know her. Bea is survived by her loving husband JC, her children Sylvia, Tim, and Dan, her church community, and countless friends whose lives she touched with her boundless love and genuine kindness. Her legacy continues in her five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild, each a testament to her unwavering love and dedication to family.
