Sara McCall, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, peacefully departed this life on May 7, 2026, just shy of her 81st birthday. Born on May 12, 1945, in Birmingham, Alabama, to William and Mary Montgomery, Sara was a beacon of light and love to all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents; her cherished brothers, Isaac, William Amos, David, Samuel Robert, and Moses; her dear sisters, Queen Esther, Hannah, and Annie Dorothy; and her beloved son, Roderick. Sara was a woman of remarkable strength and enduring grace. She graduated from Tugger High School in 1963 and went on to pursue higher education, earning an Associate’s degree from Kennedy King College. Her commitment to service was evident early in life as she joined the Job Corps after high school, dedicating herself to making a difference in the lives of others. On July 27, 1966, Sara married the love of her life, Charles V. McCall. Their union, though lasting only eight years, was filled with love and mutual respect. Together, they raised two beautiful daughters, Pamela and Karen, who survive her. Her daughters, along with her devoted son-in-law, Edward, were her pride and joy, and she imparted to them her values of kindness, humor, and compassion. Sara's professional life was spent nurturing young minds as a Primary Education Paraprofessional for 13 years, a role in which she impacted countless lives with her gentle guidance and unwavering support. Her love for children was boundless, as was her affection for animals, whom she cared for deeply. A devout member of Mount Olive United Methodist Church, Sara was a pillar of her community and dedicated over two decades of service as a local election volunteer. Her commitment to civic duty and community engagement was an inspiration to all who knew her. Sara had a zest for life that was evident in the simple pleasures she cherished. She found joy in tending to her garden, solving crossword puzzles, traveling to new places, and spending precious time with her family and friends. Her home was always filled with laughter and warmth, a testament to her generous heart and infectious sense of humor. Sara leaves behind a legacy of love that will be cherished by her daughters, Pamela and Karen, four grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren, who were her greatest treasures. She also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews, each of whom held a special place in her heart. While Sara’s physical presence will be deeply missed, her spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. As we reflect on her life, we celebrate the kindness, compassion, and unwavering dedication she extended to all. May Sara McCall rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the love she so generously shared with the world. Her memory will forever be a blessing to us all.
