Sara Hayes

June 10, 1962 — October 2, 2026

Sara Hayes, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to all who knew her, passed away on October 2, 2026, after a hard-fought and courageous battle with multiple sclerosis (MS). Born on June 10, 1962, in Montgomery, West Virginia, Sara lived a life filled with love, compassion, and strength. A proud graduate of Nicholas County High School, Sara spent her life building meaningful relationships and making lasting connections with the people around her. She had a heart for others and a way of making everyone feel welcome, loved, and important. Sara's faith was a very important part of her life. As one of Jehovah's Witnesses, she held her beliefs close to her heart and found comfort, strength, and hope in them throughout her life, especially during her difficult battle with MS. Her faith was a part of who she was and something she deeply cherished. Outside of her love for family and faith, Sara had a special love for animals and music, which brought her happiness and comfort throughout her life. She had a warm spirit, a generous heart, and a smile that could brighten any room. Sara had a way of making people feel at ease, and she could carry on a conversation with just about anyone. To her, there was no such thing as meeting a stranger. She had a gift for turning strangers into friends and friends into family, and her welcoming personality made her someone people were drawn to no matter where she was. Sara was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Jane Jones. She is survived by her son, Adam Hayes; her four grandchildren, Cameron, Adalyn, Ryker, and Lukas; her sister, Carla Hughes; her brother, Michael Jones; her ex-husband, Mikey Hayes; her nephews, Jonathan Hughes and Dylan Kitzmiller; her niece, Kaylee Hughes, and many extended family members and dear friends who will miss her deeply. A service to honor and celebrate Sara's life will be held on October 24, 2026, at 1:00 PM at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, located at 72 E Mt Lookout Rd, Mt Lookout, WV 26678. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by Sara are invited to attend and share in remembering the life she lived.
