It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of our beloved Sara Elizabeth Batchelor, who peacefully left this world on May 2, 2026, surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Born on July 31, 1935, in Laurens County, Sara was a beacon of love and warmth to all who knew her. Sara was the cherished daughter of James Nathan English and Janie Christine Hosford English, who preceded her in death. She was also predeceased by her brothers, Milliard and Charles English, and shared a special bond with her nephew, Ben English, and niece, Amy English McCranie. Her life was enriched by her survived siblings, Raymond English and Donnie English (Jane), who remained close throughout her life. Sara was blessed with two loving marriages, first to Willie D. Phillips and later to Chester Batchelor. Together, they built a legacy of love and family that continues to grow. She is survived by her devoted children, Mary Ann Holley (Gary) and Jane Williams, who carry forward her spirit of kindness and resilience. Her life was further illuminated by her treasured grandchildren, including Shannon H. Thomas (Dean), Stephanie Marshall (Pete), Brian Holley (Beverly), Charles Walters Jr. (Amber), Joshua Holley (Kate), Haley Humphries (Chuck), and James Holley (Yvette). She also leaves behind 16 great-grandchildren, who were the joy of her life, and her beloved fur child, Tinker Bell. Sara's educational journey led her to graduate from Macon Area Technical School on September 12, 1969, with her Cosmetologist License, a testament to her dedication and passion for beauty and care. Remarkably, even at the age of 90, she maintained her license, a symbol of her commitment to her craft. She owned several beauty shops, earning a reputation for her exceptional skills, notably for cutting the best fro in Bleckley County. Beyond her professional achievements, Sara was a woman of many talents and interests. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, from working in her yard and gardening to crocheting and cooking. Her culinary skills were renowned, bringing warmth and comfort to family and friends. Sara's infectious smile, twinkling eyes, and compassionate nature endeared her to children and friends alike. Her playful spirit was captured in the silly pictures and videos she loved to take, and her love for dancing reflected her zest for life. Throughout her life, Sara was blessed with the companionship of many dear friends, none more special than Wanda Belyeu from Alabama, her confidante and cherished friend for over 50 years. Together, they shared countless memories and adventures, embodying the true essence of friendship. Sara's family extends their deepest gratitude to the nurses on the third floor at Emory in Warner Robins, GA, for their love and compassion during her brief stay. Their kindness and care brought comfort to Sara and her family in her final days. A service to celebrate Sara's life will be held on May 14, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Mathis Funeral Home, located at 151 E Dykes St, Cochran, GA 31014. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of a life that touched so many hearts. Sara Elizabeth Batchelor's legacy of love, strength, and joy will forever remain in the hearts of those she leaves behind. Her life was a testament to the power of love and the beauty of a life lived with purpose and passion. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will continue to inspire and guide us all.
