SanJuanita "Janie" Zepeda Boone
January 2, 1950 — March 15, 2026
SanJuanita "Janie" Zepeda Boone, a cherished soul who touched the lives of many with her warm spirit and unwavering love, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2026, in Tennessee. Born on January 2, 1950, in the sun-kissed state of Texas, SanJuanita lived a life filled with love, compassion, and dedication to her family and community.
The daughter of Maria Olivia Zepeda and Manuel L. Zepeda, SanJuanita was raised in a nurturing environment that instilled in her a sense of generosity and kindness, qualities she carried with her throughout her life. Her bold personality and willingness to help others were hallmarks of her character.
On January 10, 1969, SanJuanita married the love of her life, Jessie Lee Boone, in Naples, Florida. Their union, marked by devotion and partnership, lasted 40 beautiful years until Jessie's passing. Together, they raised a daughter, Chelsea Boone-Brown, in Independence, Virginia, creating a home filled with laughter, love, and the values they held dear.
SanJuanita's career was one of service and care. She began as a nurse's aide in Naples, Florida, and then worked as an x-ray technician at Naples Medical Center. Her journey eventually led her to Virginia, where she served as a Home Health Aide, providing comfort and care to those in need until her retirement.
Her love for community was evident in her active participation at Fries United Methodist Church and the Fries Senior Group from 2022 to 2025. Even after moving to Tennessee, she remained involved with senior activities, finding joy in the company of others and sharing her vibrant energy.
SanJuanita had a passion for crocheting and gardening, crafts that brought her peace and joy. Her intricate crochet pieces were often gifted to family and friends, each stitch a testament to her love. Her garden was a sanctuary, a place where she could connect with nature and nurture life.
A devoted grandmother, SanJuanita adored her four grandchildren: Mia Wilson, Esamae Brown, Carson Wilson, and Johnny Brown. Her heart was boundless, and her love extended to her daughter, Chelsea Boone-Brown and son-in-law Michael Brown of Fries, VA; siblings, Brother Pedro Zepeda Sr., Brother Lee Zepeda, Sister Ema Zepeda Castellon, Brother Walter Zepeda, Sister Yelfonsa "Ponchie" Zepeda Jones, and Julio "Bobby" Zepeda, Sr.; as well as her niece, Jessica Gulino and many other nieces, nephews, and close friends.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Jessie, her parents, Maria and Manuel Zepeda, her brother Manuel Zepeda Jr., and her sister Rosemarie Zepeda Lewis. Their reunification in the afterlife is a comforting thought to those who cherish her memory.
A celebration of SanJuanita's life will be held on March 21, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Fries United Methodist Church, located at 650 E Main Street, Fries, VA 24330. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made to the Twin County Humane Society, an organization dear to SanJuanita's heart.
SanJuanita leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness. As her family reflects on the remarkable woman she was, they find solace in the joyful memories and the indelible impact she had on their lives. "She was loved by her entire family and will be greatly missed. We thank the Lord for all the things she did in her life."
May she rest in eternal peace, forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
