January 19, 1951 — July 11, 2026

Sandra V. Gibson, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend to many, passed away on July 11, 2026, leaving a legacy of strength, love, and resilience. Born on January 19, 1951, in the vibrant city of New York, Sandra was a beacon of warmth and kindness throughout her life. Raised by her mother, Ann M. Wood, Sandra was instilled with values of perseverance and compassion from a young age. She completed her schooling in New York City, a place she always held dear to her heart. Sandra's journey through life was marked by her incredible ability to connect with those around her, offering wisdom and support to all who were fortunate enough to cross her path. Sandra met and married her soulmate, James Gibson, with whom she shared many cherished years until his passing. Together, they raised a beautiful family, blessing the world with their four children: Rodney, Sam, Michael, and Marisa. Sandra's nurturing spirit continued to touch the lives of her five grandchildren, who she adored beyond measure. Professionally, Sandra thrived as a bank manager, retiring after a fulfilling career where her leadership and dedication inspired her colleagues. Outside of her professional life, Sandra was a proud breast cancer survivor, whose courage and determination inspired many. Her love for animals, particularly cats and dogs, was evident, and she found joy in the simple pleasures of fishing. Sandra's love for music, especially country and old-school tunes, was a constant soundtrack to her life. She had an uncanny ability to fix cars, a skill she delighted in sharing with others. Her favorite saying, "Go Hard, or Go Home," perfectly encapsulated her vivacious spirit and determination. Sandra was predeceased by her husband, James Gibson, her sister, Beverly Black, and her brother, Benjamin Garrett III. Her memory lives on in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, and countless friends who were touched by her kindness and generosity. In memory of Sandra, contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society - Breast Cancer Fund, an organization that held a special place in her heart. The family holds close a special message, "Mommy I'll forever remember, think about, and love you forever. Mommy, I love & miss you!!!" Sandra's legacy of love and resilience will continue to inspire all who knew her.
