It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Sandra Sturdivant, a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and friend. Sandra peacefully departed this life on May 31, 2026, at the age of 76. Born on November 10, 1949, in Concord, North Carolina, Sandra was the cherished daughter of the late Edward and Johnnie Mae McCauley.
Sandra's life was a tapestry of love, resilience, and dedication. She was predeceased by her devoted husband, Charles Sturdivant, whose love and companionship blessed her life immensely. Together, they created a nurturing and joyful home filled with laughter and warmth. Sandra was also preceded in death by her beloved parents, Edward and Johnnie Mae McCauley.
A proud graduate of West Charlotte High School in Charlotte, North Carolina, Sandra pursued further education at Central Piedmont Community College. Her commitment to learning was evident throughout her life, as she carried a deep appreciation for knowledge and personal growth. Sandra applied her skills and compassion in her career, working tirelessly for 27 years alongside an orthopedic surgeon, where she made a lasting impact through her professionalism and empathy.
Sandra was a pillar of strength and support to her family, including her devoted daughters, Roslyn Stitt and Donna Pridgen, and her loving son, Richard Kevin Sherrill. Her guidance and love also extended to her cherished sister, Tammy Stanley, and her brothers, Charles McCauley, Marvin McCauley (Jacqueline), Steven McCauley, and Barry McCauley (Lisa). With a heart that knew no bounds, Sandra was a nurturing grandmother to 14 grandchildren and a growing number of great-grandchildren, each of whom brought immense joy to her life.
Her faith was a cornerstone of her life. Sandra was an active and devoted member of New Zion Missionary Baptist Church, where she found a spiritual home and extended family. Her dedication to her church community was unwavering, even as her health began to decline following the heartbreaking loss of her beloved Charles.
Sandra's legacy of kindness, generosity, and unwavering faith will forever be cherished by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege to know her. Her life was a testament to the power of love and the strength of family, and her memory will continue to inspire those she leaves behind.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Sandra's honor to organizations that reflect her values and commitments, ensuring that her spirit of giving lives on.
As we bid farewell to Sandra, we take comfort in knowing that she now rests in eternal peace, reunited with her beloved Charles and embraced by the boundless love of her creator. Her light will continue to shine in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
