Sandra Stabnick

October 3, 1941 — June 13, 2026

It is with profound sadness and heartfelt gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of our beloved Sandra Stabnick, who left this world peacefully on June 13, 2026, at the age of 84. Sandy, as she was affectionately known, was a beacon of love and kindness, whose life was a testament to the power of education and the arts. Born on October 3, 1941, in Detroit, Michigan, Sandra was the cherished daughter of Chester and Sylvia Zollman. She grew up in a home filled with love and laughter, alongside her sister Barbara, who predeceased her. Sandy graduated from Mumford High School and went on to pursue her passion for teaching at Wayne State University, earning a degree that would shape the lives of countless students. For 30 years, Sandra dedicated herself to the Ferndale School District, where she held various positions that highlighted her unwavering commitment to education. Her enthusiasm for teaching extended beyond the classroom as she shared her love for ballet at the Sylvia Lee School of Dance in Berkley. Sandy's impact on her students was profound and lasting, and her legacy will continue to inspire generations to come. In 1965, Sandy married the love of her life, Gerald Stabnick, affectionately known as Jerry. Together, they built a nurturing home in Huntington Woods, Michigan, where they raised their two sons, Matthew and Steven. Their marriage of 47 years was a testament to their enduring love and partnership. Though Jerry and Steven have passed on, their memories live on in the hearts of those who knew them. Sandy is survived by her devoted son Matthew and his wife Dianne, who enriched her life with four cherished grandchildren: Connor, Anna, Cameryn, and Jane. Each of them carries forward her wisdom, humor, and grace. Sandy is also remembered by her brother-in-law Marty, her niece Julie and her husband Jay, along with their sons Owen and Elliot, and her nephew Jim. Her family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff at Waltonwood Main in Rochester for their exceptional care and compassion, providing Sandy with a warm and comforting home in her final years. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Sandra's memory to Hospice of Michigan, an organization that holds a special place in their hearts. Though Sandy has left this earthly realm, her spirit lives on in the laughter of her grandchildren and in the stories shared by all who knew her. Her legacy is one of love, dedication, and unwavering strength. She will be profoundly missed but will forever remain in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her. May Sandra Stabnick rest in eternal peace, reunited with her beloved Jerry, son Steven, sister Barbara, and her dear parents, Chet and Sylvia. Her life was a gift to us all, and her memory will be cherished forever.
