Sandra Jean Reed
February 10, 1945 — October 9, 2026
Sandra Reed was born in the charming town of Sumiton, Alabama on February 10, 1945. From a young age, she exhibited a zest for life and a warmth that would become her hallmark. Sandra was a beacon of love and kindness, always ready with a gentle smile and a comforting word for everyone she encountered.
A devoted wife to her beloved Gary Reed for 50 wonderful years, Sandra often referred to him as her "buddy." Their marriage was a testament to enduring love and partnership, creating a home filled with laughter, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to one another. Sandra's world revolved around her family ,including her sisters and brothers as well as their children and extended family. Her heart found its fullest expression in the lives of her children, Gina Plyler and Sherrie Yates (Drew).
Sandra's life was enriched by her role as a grandmother to three adoring grandchildren: Holly Cannon (Paul) , Michelle Bradfield, and Michael Williams (Cyanna). Her love extended further to her great-grandchildren, Ethan (Kacie) and Olivia Cannon, and Gracie (Dante) and Jacob Bradfield, who brought additional joy and vibrancy to her life. Sandra's nurturing spirit knew no bounds, and she embraced the friends of her children and grandchildren as her own and into her heart and home.
A high school graduate, she carried the values of learning and curiosity throughout her life. Her love for cooking was legendary, and her kitchen was a place where warmth and wonderful aromas mingled with fascinating stories and lively conversation. Friends and family gathered often in her home, known affectionately as "Momee's house," where an extra place was always set at the table for anyone who might drop by.
Sandra's loving and giving spirit was felt by all who knew her. Her generosity was boundless, and her open heart was a haven for those who needed comfort or simply a listening ear. She had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel valued and loved, a gift she shared freely with the world.
In honoring Sandra's legacy of love and community, the family suggests that those wishing to make memorial contributions direct them to a cause or organization close to their hearts in tribute to the spirit of giving that Sandra embodied throughout her life, with a special nod to breast cancer research in which Sandra was a survivor.
