In Loving Memory of Sandra Lee Whitener Williams
It is with heavy hearts and profound respect that we announce the passing of our beloved Sandra Lee Whitener Williams, who departed this world peacefully in her sleep on the evening of June 1, 2026, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's. Sandra was embraced by the love and care of her youngest son, Bryan, in her final moments.
Born on July 20, 1948, in the coastal embrace of Galveston, Texas, Sandra was a beacon of warmth and compassion throughout her life. She was the cherished daughter of Doris Bray and Johnny Whitener, who, along with her brothers Larry and David Bray, have preceded her in death. Sandra's love for her family was paramount, and she is survived by her devoted husband, Sonny Williams, and her sisters, Patricia DeLaPaz and Carol Joseph, who shared in the joys and challenges of life with her.
Sandra's legacy continues through her children, Michael Cruse, Kathryn Fairies, Teresa Heinrich, Mary McNeal, and Bryan McNeal, who each carry forward her spirit of kindness and resilience. Her heart overflowed with pride and affection for her 11 grandchildren—Cassandra Nichols, Stephen Nichols, Hayden Cruse, Drake Heinrich, Greyson Cruse, Addison Heinrich, Kylie Heinrich, Brooke Heinrich, Nolan Cruse, Jaxson Cruse, and Caddence Miracle—who brought endless joy and laughter to her days.
A woman of unwavering faith, Sandra was actively involved in her church community before her illness. Her melodious voice graced the church choir, a testament to her love for singing hymns and her deep-rooted Christian beliefs. Sandra's life was a living testament to her faith; she was God-fearing and possessed a character defined by integrity and generosity. She never met a stranger, always extending a helping hand to those in need.
Sandra's passions were many and varied. She found immense joy in sewing and cooking, crafting warmth and love into every stitch and meal she made. An avid reader, she delighted in the stories that transported her to different worlds. Some of her fondest memories were shared over card games of Solitaire, Gin Rummy, and Spades with friends and family, where laughter and camaraderie filled the air.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all who offered their support, calls, messages, and presence at the memorial service. Your kindness and compassion have been a source of strength during this difficult time.
As we remember Sandra, let us celebrate a life well-lived, full of love, faith, and service to others. Her memory will forever be a guiding light for those who knew and loved her. Rest in peace, dear Sandra, knowing that your legacy of love and kindness will endure through the lives you've touched.
