Sandra Lee Kulig

February 21, 1948 — March 7, 2026

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Sandra Lee Kulig, affectionately known to her family and friends as "Sam" or "Sammy". Sandra peacefully departed this world on March 7, 2026, at the age of 78, after a courageous battle with cancer. Her life, filled with love, laughter, and an unwavering dedication to her family and community, will be celebrated and cherished by all who knew her. Born on February 21, 1948, in Springfield, Massachusetts, Sandra was the beloved daughter of Shirley (Germain) and Leroy Wenners, both of whom predeceased her, along with her brother, Mark Wenners. She graduated in 1966 from the High School of Commerce in Springfield, where she laid the foundation for a life characterized by kindness and service to others. Sandra devoted her talents as an office manager at Tac Medical Home Nursing Services, where her compassion and commitment to helping others were evident. Her professional journey was complemented by her volunteer work with the March of Dimes, where she tirelessly contributed to causes dear to her heart. In 1996, Sandra met the love of her life, Robert Kulig, Sr., affectionately known as "Big Bob". Their love story blossomed over the years, and they were joined in marriage on August 1, 2015. Together, they created a beautiful life, shared between the warm sands of Melbourne Beach, Florida and the welcoming community of Ludlow. Their love was a testament to the joy found in companionship and the strength of shared dreams. Sandra's family was the center of her world. She is survived by her devoted husband, Robert; her cherished children, Cheri Lynn Steigmeyer (David), Jeffrey Steigmeyer (Kim), and Brian Steigmeyer (Aimee); and her stepchildren, Robert (Lisa) and Kimberly. Sandra was a proud grandmother to eight grandchildren: Abigayle, Zachry, Alexandria, Jake, Ethan, Kellan, Regan, and Peyton, and the adored great-grandmother of Stella and Lennon. Her brothers, Frank (Lynn) and Curt (Denise), along with her sister-in-law Pat, also hold her memory close, as do many extended family members and friends. Sandra's heart was happiest when surrounded by family, whether enjoying Sunday dinners, organizing picnics, or hosting special occasions. Her home was a haven of warmth and hospitality, where she celebrated life's moments with culinary delights and joyous gatherings. Her passion for travel took her on ocean and river cruises, exploring Europe, the Caribbean, and the landscapes of her homeland, always with a spirit of adventure and an appreciation for life's wonders. Sandra's legacy is one of compassion, joy, and an indomitable spirit that touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her generosity and love were boundless, her smile infectious, and her absence leaves an irreplaceable void in the hearts of many. A celebration of Sandra's life will be held in the coming days, where family and friends will gather to honor a life well-lived, sharing stories and memories of a woman who brought so much light into the world. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Sandra's memory to the March of Dimes, continuing her legacy of helping those in need. Sandra Lee Kulig will be dearly missed, but her spirit will continue to guide and inspire all who knew her. As we say goodbye, we hold tight to the love and memories she gifted us, ensuring her essence lives on forever in our hearts.
