Sandra Lee Kulig
February 21, 1948 — March 7, 2026
Sandra Lee Kulig, lovingly known as Sandy or Sam to her cherished family and friends, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2026, after a valiant battle with cancer. Born on February 21, 1948, in Springfield, Massachusetts, Sandra was a beacon of love, strength, and joy throughout her 78 years.
Sandra was the beloved daughter of the late Shirley (Germain) and Ralph Wenners, and the dear sister to the late Mark Wenners. She leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter with her devoted husband, Robert Kulig, Sr., affectionately known as Bigbob. Sandy and Bob's love story began with a first date in June of 1996, culminating in their marriage on August 1, 2015. Together, they crafted a beautiful life, sharing time between Ludlow, Massachusetts, and Melbourne Beach, Florida, where they spent the last 30 years surrounded by the love of their family and friends.
A proud graduate of the High School of Commerce in Springfield, class of 1966, Sandra dedicated her career to helping others as the office manager at Tac Medical home nursing services. Her work was more than just a job; it was an extension of her nurturing spirit and her commitment to making the world a better place.
Sandra's heart was undeniably in her family. She is survived by her children Cheri Lynn Steigmeyer (Dave), Jeffrey Steigmeyer (Kim), and Brian Steigmeyer (Aimee), as well as her stepchildren Robert (Lisa) and Kimberly. Her enduring love and wisdom will continue to guide her eight grandchildren—Abigail, Zachary, Alexandria, Jake, Ethan, Kellan, Regan, and Peyton—and her precious great-granddaughters, Stella and Lenny. Sandra's loving presence will also be missed by her siblings Frank (Lynn) and Curt (Denise), as well as her sister-in-law, Pat.
A woman of boundless energy and enthusiasm, Sandra found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She was an exceptional cook, known for her sumptuous meals and knack for turning everyday dinners into grand celebrations. Her home was a welcoming haven for Sunday family dinners, summer picnics, and holiday gatherings.
Her passion for travel took her to the sandy shores of York Beach and Ogunquit in the summer and the warmth of Melbourne Beach in the winter. Sandra's adventurous spirit led her on ocean and river cruises across Europe, the Caribbean, and the United States. She embraced each journey with an open heart and a zest for life that was truly contagious.
Sandra's legacy is one of love, laughter, and cherished memories. Her life was a testament to the power of kindness, the importance of family, and the joy of living fully and without reservation. Her gentle spirit will remain with us, reminding all who knew her of the profound impact one life can have on so many.
A celebration of Sandra's life will be held at a later date, where stories will be shared, laughter will ring out, and her remarkable journey will be honored by all who loved her. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Sandra's memory to a charity of your choice, reflecting her generous spirit and her unwavering belief in the goodness of humanity.
