With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Sandra Jean DiMond, a cherished mother, aunt, grandmother, sister, and friend, on August 22, 2026. Sandra left this world at Mercy Hospital, surrounded by the warmth and love of her family.
Born on April 30, 1943, in Allegheny County to Mary and Francis Hammill, Sandy, as she was fondly known, was a beacon of light and joy to all who knew her. She was predeceased by her beloved parents, her dear sister Shiela Hammill, and her cherished grandson AJ Harris. She is survived by her brother Thomas Hammill; her devoted children William (Rhonda), Kimberly (Thor), and Michelle; her loving niece Robin; and her treasured grandchildren Reno, Ronan (Jules), Tena, and Maddison. Sandy also leaves behind a host of wonderful family members and friends who will miss her dearly.
A proud graduate of St. Phillips Primary School and Crafton High School, Sandra forged a successful career as a real estate agent and a property manager. Her dedication and work ethic earned her the respect and admiration of colleagues and clients alike.
Sandy was a devoted member of St. Phillips Church. Her faith and community were integral parts of her life, providing her with strength and joy. Her vibrant spirit was reflected in her love for spending time with family and friends, attending church services, watching wildlife in her yard, and enjoying a cold Coors Light on her patio. Her Irish heritage shone through in her love for laughter, her kindness, and her unyielding generosity.
A service to celebrate Sandra's life will be held on August 26, 2026, at Schepner-McDermott Funeral Home, located at 165 Noble Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15205. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of a life well-lived and to honor the legacy she leaves behind.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated staff at Mercy Hospital for their exceptional care and kindness during Sandra's final days.
Sandy's memory will forever illuminate the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Her legacy of love, laughter, and warmth will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to have known her.
