It is with heavy hearts and a profound sense of loss that we announce the passing of Sandra J. Hill, on March 14, 2026, at the age of 78. Born on February 12, 1948, in the warm embrace of Simcoe, Ontario, Sandy, as she was affectionately known, left this world peacefully, surrounded by those she loved the most—her family. Her departure marks the end of a beautiful journey filled with love, kindness, and unwavering generosity.
Sandy was the cherished daughter of the late Marshall and Billie Alway, who undoubtedly welcomed her with open arms. She is survived by her devoted husband, James Hill, and her beloved siblings, Suzanne Shostal (Julian) and Marsha Alway (Don), who have been a constant source of love and support throughout her life.
Sandy was a remarkable woman who touched the hearts of many. She was the proud mother of two daughters, Alexis Kinnear (Joe) and Tammany Kinnear (Jeff), who were the light of her life. Her legacy continues through her adored grandchildren, Kanoa, Tacoma, Marley, Isla, Kalai, Beau, Zander, and Mia, who will forever hold her memory close to their hearts. Her close friend, Patrick, was also a significant part of her life, offering friendship and companionship.
A graduate of Simcoe Composite School, Sandy pursued higher education at Ryerson in Toronto and then at the London Teacher's College. She dedicated her professional life to nurturing young minds, teaching at the elementary school level until her retirement in 2002. Her career was not just a job; it was her calling, and she embraced it with the warmth and passion that defined her character.
Sandy had an extraordinary gift for making everyone around her feel welcome and valued. Her kindness knew no bounds, and she shared her generosity freely with all who crossed her path. Her spirit was a beacon of light, and her presence brought comfort and joy to many.
In accordance with Sandy's wishes, a private ceremony will be held to honor her life. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated staff at Cedarwood Village for the compassionate care they provided Sandy in her final days. A special thanks is also extended to Dr. Marwood for her unwavering support and kindness.
As we bid farewell to Sandy, we do so with gratitude for the time we shared and the memories we created. While she may no longer walk among us, her spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved her. May we continue to honor her legacy by embracing the kindness and generosity that she exemplified every day of her life.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages acts of kindness in Sandy's memory. Let her life be a testament to the power of love and the importance of making the world a better place, one kind gesture at a time.
