Sandra Foxx Prince
October 4, 1948 — July 3, 2026
Sandra Foxx Prince, a beacon of kindness and compassion, peacefully departed this world on July 3, 2026, at the age of 77. Born on October 4, 1948, in Newark, New Jersey, Sandra was the cherished daughter of the late Claude Foxx and Constance Shell Mendes. She was also preceded in death by her beloved sister, Sheila Foxx.
A devoted wife, Sandra was married for 36 wonderful years to Early Prince Jr., with whom she shared a life full of love and adventure. Sandra's heart and home were always open, and she was a loving stepmother to Rhonda Prince, Monica Merritt (Stuart Merritt), and Shante Prince, as well as a nurturing godmother to Regan’s Kahn, Marlo Graves, and Jarah. She took great joy in her extended family, including her niece, Sharanda Bennett, her brother-in-law, Melvin Prince, and her sister-in-law, Carol Hart.
Sandra was the proud grandmother of 15 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, who filled her life with joy and laughter. Each of them held a special place in her heart, and she took immense pride in their accomplishments and happiness.
Education played a pivotal role in Sandra's life. After graduating from Barringer High School, she pursued her passion for teaching by earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education from Jersey State University in 1971. Sandra dedicated her career to nurturing young minds as an elementary school teacher, a calling she fulfilled with grace and commitment until her retirement in 2009. Her legacy of love for learning endures through the Tender Loving Care Preschool, which she founded in East Orange, New Jersey, touching the lives of countless children and families.
Sandra was a woman of unwavering faith and was actively involved in her community. She was a former member of New Hope Baptist Church and a founding member of Imani Baptist Church, both located in East Orange, New Jersey. Her spiritual journey was further enriched by her involvement with the Tres Dias of Northern New Jersey, where she deepened her relationship with Jesus Christ.
Sandra's vibrant spirit was evident in her love for organizing "Girls Night Out," where her warmth and laughter brought joy to her friends and family. She was known for her kind heart, phenomenal teaching skills, and her unwavering dedication to making the world a better place. Sandra's inspirational presence touched everyone she met, and her passion for life was contagious.
